  1. Been traipsing up and down hills at the Austin Grand Prix. Sunburned but happily enjoying fast cars and good food and drink, mostly back in the Temple area where we are staying. And apologies to Fitz as I have not been able to connect with him due to the fact that we have both been basically wiped out after track activities so far.
  2. Happy Birthday!!
  3. Historic Grand Prix cars. I think I have the Tyrrel 6 wheeler in there... And finally, F1 Practice 1.
  4. Couldn't do Hi-Def as the hotel wi-fi sucks donkey balls, but here's some regular def badly hand-held iPhone video. Excuse shaky hands and thumbs. COTA Turn 1: Ferrari Challenge qualifying
  5. So far the time at the circuit has been positive. The track itself and the on-track action has been great. Off-track human handling started out rough but has gotten better. The track is very hilly and for fat old people like myself a bitch to walk. But the track had advertised trams to take you around the track, so no problem. Except the trams were your basic Disneyland type and kept breaking and couldn't climb hills. A lot of people complained after Friday on the COTA Facebook page. So, on Saturday, COTA stepped up and scrapped the trams and brought in full-fledged buses. I was impressed. Staff at the circuit have been amazingly polite and helpful, and though initial amenities are a bit rudimentary, this track has a ton of potential. Turn one is a monster - an amazingly steep climb up to a blind apex that will be very interesting on Sunday. Expect some carbon fiber shards in that one. We have seats in turn 11, the hairpin. We may not see passing here but can see all the way down the following DRS zone to turn 12. I have posted some iPhone video to Facebook. I will try and get some linked up here when time permits.
  6. Sitting in the stands at the USGP. So far, Ferrari is not fast enough. We'll see how practice 2 goes this afternoon.
  7. Bangers and Mash at Banger's.
  8. Happy Birthday Dinny!!
  9. Sending good Karma Vicki so you can ride next weekend. Congrat Mike on the marriage milestone.
  10. A little late to the game, but I'm in. Good job training Vicki. Have a great ride next weekend!
  11. Saw this on Reddit. $3.65 for 5L. Calling Mikey - I think we need a review:
  12. Hmmm.... depending on when Oz Fest happens, this might be a good chance to get out east and hang with the cool kids.
  13. I LOL'd again. Ken's on a streak.
  14. Agreed. Don't miss this one. Texas should be awesome.
  15. Fax chili when ready please.
  16. What he said. In French as well.
  17. Huh.... I'm not really surprised by any of this.... Awesome job Allison!
  18. Good luck Jacob!!
  19. Sad news on the cat, Ken. 14 years is a good run but it's always difficult at the end.
  20. So I'm beginning to think, due to lack of response, that this is a dead event? Unless I hear different in this thread Debbie and I will be looking for alternative lodging as we'd still like to attend the race rather than sell our tickets.
  21. Happy Birthday Marc!
  22. The band was excellent and John was in good form. Unfortunately, after the Crazy Horse show a couple weeks ago and this show tonight, I'm about to give up going to concerts in Chicago. We seem to constantly be surrounded by people who spend the entire fucking show talking at the top of their lungs about whatever mundane fucking horseshit they think is important in their pissant little lives. We asked one pair if they would shut up, but there were probably 10 more people around us yacking away. It seems to happen all the time now and most people don't seem to care. But if I'm paying $100 for tickets, $20 for parking and another $40 for drinks, I want to hear the fucking band. /rant
