  1. Grilled a couple of USDA Prime New York strips and baked potatoes. Delish!
  2. What's the problem Al? That's exactly how our kitchen looked when making the KBS candied bacon, skanky towel and all.
  3. We're supposed to have some storms tonight in Chicagoland to break the heatwave and drop it back into the 80's. It was around 98 F when we left work today, and we had one brown-out power loss tonight for about 15 minutes. Thank Odin for air conditioning.
  4. Nice work Jim. The Ditka is within you. Wait.... does that sound weird?
  5. That is a very big thing in dog social circles. Sounds like you've got a smooth transition happening there sir. And I agree with the DOTU - where's the pics?
  6. ^^^^ This! Keep the updates coming Steve.
  7. Apologies for the dirty plate, but we tucked in before I could remember to snap the pic. And since I don't see any sand, I assume you meant dessert. ( end snark). And yes, it was delicious. Though a bit too sweet for Debbie, it was awesome to me.
  8. For the last night of vacation, Debbie and I went to a new local place named Dancing Marlin that specializes in small dishes ala tapas. Here was our lineup: Whitefish escabeche with cucumber vinaigrette, mint and red onion. Fried kale. Shrimp and Spanish chorizo flatbread. Oyster sliders. Shrimp pot stickers with fava bean puree and pickled celery (sorry, ate most of them before the photo) Clam fritters with a nice salad. Seared sea scallops with brown butter and corn. Gnudi ricotta dumplings with asparagus and peas. And for closers, brioche donuts with salted caramel sauce and whipped coffee cream. Along with all of this we had several house cocktails including a very nice Scofflaw. Back to work tomorrow but screw them, we had a great shared meal tonight.
  9. Lotus is looking like the real deal. But it's going to be difficult to stop the Red Bull freight train. Ferrari? Who?
  10. Happy Birthday to the muscle of the Stax Mafia. I hope you've baked yourself a treat today.
  11. Happy Birthday Mike! May many excellent beers find their way into your belly today.
  12. Happy Belated Birthday Greg!
  13. It's worked for me, though like Jim, no SSD. And I don't have all of my CD's ripped.
  14. I couldn't have said it better myself Steve. Except Vettel getting a DNF just made me smile sooo big.
  15. ^^^ Nice!!!
  16. Happy belated B'days!
  17. Silverstone. Wow. Just wow.
  18. I dream of a big bag that buys an F40. Or a 1958 Testa Rossa. A really big bag.
  19. It was gorgeous in person. But my sack of money car would still have a prancing horse on it.
  20. Went to Shipshawana Indiana to pick up the missing ottoman for our deck furniture. Then up to a little brewery named Bare Hands for a couple of beers and some pretzels with a nice horseradish cheese for dipping. Then drove another 45 minutes north to Paw Paw, Michigan to Paw Paw Brewing. It's a tiny little hole in the wall but had some great beers and an equally great burger. Left Paw Paw and headed down I-94 for home. What should I see in the rearview mirror not long after getting on the highway? How about one of these: Yep, a McLaren 12C. Wish we had better pics but not bad for Debbie's iPhone 5 at speeds between 70 and 95 MPH on a less than perfectly paved I-94. In the middle pic you can see a Corvette and a Carrera S. They were traveling as a pack and we ran with them for maybe 75 miles. They all peeled off around Portage, Indiana. I think to myself that seeing the McLaren is a one in a million thing. So what do I see 10 miles further down the road going in the opposite direction? Yep, another one, this time in gray. Couldn't believe it.
  21. Steve, Debbie and I are penciling ourselves in for a future dinner party. We believe you would be one hell of a host. Mike, figuring that your son has learned well from his father, I'm sure he'll make good decisions regarding his future.
  22. I thought this was a nice touch. Full page from today's Boston Globe.
  23. Happy Birthday!!
  24. Happy Birthday!
