  1. Artist: Be Bop Deluxe Album: Modern Music Song: "Down on Terminal Street" Lyric: And all the creatures born of ink and rage and lies Crawled from my pen and ran across the page to die
  2. Upstairs book: Downstairs book:
  3. I used a wooden nickel. No difference. (slinks off after realizing he just showed how flipping old he is...)
  4. Farfalla with turkey Italian sausage, mushrooms and peas.
  5. That bottom picture looks like they are saying "Go ahead, replace them. We're just gonna chew 'em up again." Yeah, wiping them down with Tobasco or some such may work but it might wear off too. When we adopted the two Hell kittens from a local shelter, they tried chewing through the electrical cords in our bedroom. I went to Home Depot and bought foam pipe insulation and surrounded all of the cords. But that might be hard on IC's and headphone cables especially.
  6. Owens-Corning fiberglass insulation, platic drop cloths, electrical tape, dog food, cat litter, frozen navy bean and beef vegetable soups. All set for a party!
  7. RIF dude... LULZ Yeah. It comes with one stick of 512MB. I replaced it with a 2GB stick.
  8. Just a follow up - I did get Windows XP on here. With some tweaking I still have 2GB of the 4GB SS drive available, and programs are loading to the SD card. Hasn't seemed to hamper how fast they run. I loaded Opera tonight and it makes for a quick little browser. And battery time hasn't seemed to suffer from the switch to XP. I think this was a worthwhile purchase overall.
  9. And an hour after you eat one you're hungry all over again.
  10. I hear panda tastes like.... ah, never mind.
  11. I bloody well almost pissed myself I laughed so hard at that!!!
  12. Thanks all. It's been a pretty bog-standard day. Went to work, studied for work related test tonight. We went out for dinner last night so that was the celebration. The Eee PC was my present to myself. The wife doesn't really try anymore - she has no idea for me and that's ok. 50 is not much different than I've felt since I was in my 20's, but some things with people at work recently have made me realize that time can be short and you need to not piss about but act on things when they happen. Bloody life goes by too fast. You youngsters listen to your old uncle Absorbine. Stop fucking about or it'll be gone before you know it. Don't ya just hate how old people go on and on and on.....
  13. Another great meal at Cafe Borgia tonight. Fried calamari for starters, followed by grilled eggplant wrapped around creamy goat cheese and garnished with a lime/tomato salsa from the Cold Plate menu. For mains my wife had salmon linguini with a lemon/dill cream sauce. I had a grilled 8 oz. beef tenderloin with portobello mushroom, red wine demi-glace, smashed potatoes and mixed veg. Ended with an espresso and bread pudding with caramel sauce.
  14. Supposedly there are going to be 6 cell batteries coming for the Eee, but in everything I've read so far Asus is not saying when. The current batteries are 4 cell I believe.
  15. Yes to upgrading the Surf: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=6036 Edit - apparently this is only the 4G Surf. The 2G models have soldered ram? I've not looked into the internal thumb drive hack. I saw it mentioned, but have not followed up on it.
  16. I've dabbled in Linux but just have never been fully taken with it. And I'm an old dog, so new tricks don't come easily. I work with Windows every day and can be most efficient with it. One thing about the lower end models - some don't contain a hatch on the underside to upgrade RAM. If you're ok with the 512 MB they come with that's ok, but if you need to upgrade those models you have to disassemble the chassis to do so. That was the reason I went to the $399 701 model and not the 4G Surf at $349.
  17. Don't hold your breath on that one. So far, about three hours has been the max. I'll have to see what it ends up being with XP.
  18. Pics of my recently purchased buttonless:
  19. Card reader, USB ports, D-sub for VGA out. Network connection, modem connection (not available), USB port, Mic in, Phones out. The main page of the Linux OS. Asus has done a good job of simplifying the interface for non tech users, but things like setting up wireless/network etc. might be challenging for the uninitiated. Wireless is built in - 802.11 b/g.
  20. Actually, XP will fit on the 4 GB Solid State drive in my Eee PC. But I will offload portions of it (My Documents, Browser Temp Files, etc.) to the 8GB SDHC card I bought with it. You can also run without a page file in most cases as paging to the SS drive is not a big benefit or actually desired because of limited write life. I bought a 2 GB stick of RAM to upgrade the default 512 MB. That should keep things moving in XP without the page file. The 4G Eee, RAM and SDHC all came in under $500. A bit expensive as a toy but so far I'm enjoying using it.
  21. My Asus Eee PC arrived yesterday. This is my first post from it. Impressions so far are ok. It's tiny. The keyboard is tiny. Probably easier to use for a "hunt & peck" typist like me. I'm still using the Linux based OS it comes with, but on Monday when I have access to a USB DVD drive will probably load XP. I'll do some pics later to give an idea of this little thing. For now it's a cool toy, I'll just have t see how much I use it.
  22. If I were you I'd keep it so you can scare people!
  23. Salad - iceberg lettuce, romaine hearts, black olives, feta and italian dressing. Trying to become less of a fat fuck.
