  1. Yeah, trust me to expect something from HF to just work without a bullshit twist... So here it is from my host:
  2. That dress plate looks familiar. Not sure how many others beside me got one on earlier runs but I really like it's look.
  3. I can't speak for vinyl, but I know I didn't realize how good the Zana was until I started feeding it with the Opus 21 CDP. Congrats on your order - you will be getting a wonderful amp.
  4. A lightning storm.
  5. Welcome to the Darth Beyer former owners and overwhelming out of proportion bass club. I did the same thing - read all the hype, saw the pictures, blah blah blah. And tried to listen to them. Nope. They sure did look good, but the sound was atrocious. So sold they were. So I guess it ends up as don't believe half of what you see and none of what you read. Oh, and if you posted this at HF you'd be burned on a wenge stake.
  6. Local Hero -one of my favorite films.
  7. Congratulations to your Granddad! My mom is 88 and still doing pretty well, and we've been doing little things for her like planting flowers and today a tomato and pepper plant. It really brings her joy and that makes me feel good too. Glad you could give a great party for him.
  8. Pico de gallo and Tostitos Scoops.
  9. That was my Zana at the Chicago meet and I was equally impressed with the K340's. So much so that like Ryan, I'm in pursuit of a stock pair to send to Larry. The pair in question were morphsci's and they did sound awesome. And as for power needed, I was surprised. Using RS-1's on the Zana I rarely turn the volume past about 9 - 10 o'clock, with Senn's 10 - 11. The K340's were usually above 12-1 o'clock to get them to a decent listening level. The bass was very good, but what I was impressed with was the overall balance and clean midrange on Jim's pair. They really hit the sweet spot of how I like my music.
  10. I need to know where you live sometime before Christmas. I HAVE TO see this!!
  11. And bad Reksy. Actually I envy you. After 10 years of not smoking, I still get the urge to have one, but continue to resist.
  12. Went to Mom's house (she's 87) and planted hostas and bleeding hearts in one of her flower beds, then mulched the others. Most of the rest of the day I lazed around home watching a Monty Python marathon on BBC America. Grilled a ribeye for me and a green chili marinated chicken breast for the wife for dinner. We had corn on the cob as well. And then I watched an MST3K episode.
  13. So now get back to your original thread and give us some impressions!! Please?
  14. Happy Birthday!!
  15. Soon: Grilled butterfly pork chops with a balsamic/roasted garlic vinagrette and a baked potato.
  16. Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 1.
  17. Yeah, gotta agree. I had Lacewood Darth's. Kept 'em for about 2 months. Loved looking at 'em. Hardly ever listened to 'em. Sold 'em.
  18. Be Bop Deluxe - Modern Music: Modern Music/Dancing in the Moonlight/Honeymoon on Mars/Lost in the Neon World/Dance of the Uncle Sam Humanoids/Modern Music (reprise) And yes, it was shorter than an album side.
  19. Mystery Science Theater 3000 Episode #507 - "I Accuse My Parents"
