My condolences, and another thank you for his service to his country. Because of him and men like him, we enjoy freedom. Mike

Yep, on a tight twisty course the Miata (and even my former MINI) is hard to beat due the excellent balance and overall handling. Now throw a couple of long straights in there and they are dead meat. But on a tight course many a Corvette or better has been embarrased.

LOL.... You may need special shoes, but not for driving..... Actually, I bought these because the footwell in the Miata is compact, and all my normal size 11.5's were too clumsy. These do actually have a purpose though. The shoe is a bit stiffer in the sole and the sole is thin to provide better pedal feel. The right shoe has that extended black area wrapping up around the right side (you see it in the pic) that helps facilitate heel & toe downshifting - the act of braking with your right foot but simultaneously blipping the throttle with the outside of that foot. This helps match engine revs for smoother downshifts. Yes, I bought them for the looks. And the color is Saddle. And to be totally ghey I got them because they closely match the color of the leather in the car...... They also come in oxblood, black and soy brown.

Actually, this was Saturday - got up early and headed to Chicago to a breakfast place we had seen on TV called Over Easy. It was 50 degrees out but with the heater we were able to drop the top on the car and enjoy the sun. Breakfast was the best I've ever had. I had Sassy Eggs and it was just stunning how good it was. Debbie had a Nueva Mexican omelet that was equally as good. We also tried the vegetarian breakfast sausage. I was skeptical as I'm pretty much a cow & pig guy, but these were actually very good. All in all a great meal and I think the source of at least a monthly visit from now on. After finding out their coffee was from Julius Meinl we stopped by their store a few blocks away and bought two pounds of beans for home. We then drove to Hats Plus and picked up the fedora I posted in the other thread. A lovely drive home (by then around 70 degrees) got us there before noon with the biggest part of the day still left to do stuff. Overall a wonderful morning.

My Dad always wore fedora's and I figured it was about time.

Happy Birthday Sir!

It's a 2.0L DOHC 4 cyl. with variable valve timing. Mine has a 6-speed manual and limited slip diff. 166 hp and 140 lb. ft. of torque. Not bad in a 2500 lb. car.

Picked this up last night: 08 Miata Grand Touring w/ Retractable Hardtop. They are currently offering $5000 rebates and were willing to deal on MSRP as well. Of course, I fully expected to be flamed to Hell for this:

I'm a Claritin D with Nasonex man myself. With the occasional Mucinex Full Force 12 hour nasal spray assist. Ain't sinuses fun?

It was an excellent show last night. That kid sure knows his way around a guitar. A nice translation of "My Favorite Things" plus an awesome cover of Derek & The Dominos' "Anyday" made for a great night. Can't remember when I've heard more emotion pour from a guitar. If you get the chance to see them, dew eet!!!

Currently sitting at the Park West in Chicago to see the Derek Trucks Band.

And what specifically is wrong with chickenshit people these days? If the final intention is to kill yourself anyway, cut out the fucking innocent bystanders and suck the fucking gun barrel first. Save all of us the grief. Or stick around after the event and take your goddamn punishment.

NAD 1600 Preamp/Tuner off Agon. I wanted to put the Zana back to full time headphone amp status so this pairs up nicely with the C272 power amp for the speakers. And it has a phono preamp that is supposed to be decent, so that if I ever get off my butt and get a turntable I'm covered.

Hoping for a speedy recovery. Let us know how she is doing. Mike

New TTVJ FET-A Headphone Amp / Preamp
Absorbine_Sr replied to Voltron's topic in Headphone Amplification
I'm just giving the FET-A my first real listen and so far I like what I'm hearing. Running out of a modded EMU 0404 to the amp. Listening with RS1's and HD600's. I like this amp a lot with the Senns. Very strong, drives them with authority. Very balanced sound to me on the Senns. Deep bass. Not sloppy. Tight. The RS1's can seem a bit bright at times depending on the recording. But with acoustic guitars (California Guitar Trio right now) I'm digging the detail, speed and soundstage. I think this would be a multi-headphone amp for me if I owned it. Like others though I wish the case was a little more upmarket. It doesn't look that horrible to me but it feels a bit flimsy when you handle it. Oh well, the sound does pretty much overcome that. -

I'd have to say black/purple so it looks like a bruise. -

Hmmm... Could this be a rare and unique ransom? -
Happy Birthday Nate.

It got here on Monday finally. I ordered direct from the manufacturer. But now that it's here I like it a lot. Very attractive and like you, no problem at all assembling.
