  1. Due to her having an accident, I'm back in my old house helping care for my ex-wife. Which means I'm also back in the world of kitties. I didn't realize just how much I missed the little furballs. Is there anything more peaceful than a sleeping cat in your lap?
  2. One frozen rat to feed my ex-wife's ball python.
  3. I did what I'll be doing for the next several weeks - helped care for my ex-wife who shattered her kneecap in a motorcycle accident. A stupendous case of Fail on her part; she totalled a motorcycle and herself during her first riding lesson.
  4. Happy b'day!!!
  5. I couldn't agree more. After the Jackson Five I just never could get into him. And I grew up mere miles from his home town of Gary. It's sad that he died so young but people on TV deifying him seems a bit much... And it makes me think - he's less than a year younger than me.
  6. I like Seinfeld, but Fawlty Towers is the best sitcom ever.
  7. Happy Birthday David!
  8. I told him to piss off. What, are you fucking blind?
  9. Amen!
  10. Jacob, unassuming? You didn't meet the evil Jacob I did. "Yeah, you need a better source. Opus 21 or Audio Aero should do..." that Jacob. The bastard. Regardless, welcome! Or in the fine Head-Case tradition, piss off.
  11. Ghost looks awesome! I had a mostly Maine Coon years back and he was one hell of a cat. He adopted the ex and I by hanging on the kitchen screen for days on end until we finally let him in. He spent the next 18 years with us and was an amazing cat. He used to bite the ex-wife on the head in the morning to wake her up! Sending Ghost more head rubs and a belly scratch (if he is into that).
  12. WIN! It is the audio system.
  13. Happy B'day!
  14. My condolences, and another thank you for his service to his country. Because of him and men like him, we enjoy freedom. Mike
  15. Yep, on a tight twisty course the Miata (and even my former MINI) is hard to beat due the excellent balance and overall handling. Now throw a couple of long straights in there and they are dead meat. But on a tight course many a Corvette or better has been embarrased.
  16. LOL.... You may need special shoes, but not for driving..... Actually, I bought these because the footwell in the Miata is compact, and all my normal size 11.5's were too clumsy. These do actually have a purpose though. The shoe is a bit stiffer in the sole and the sole is thin to provide better pedal feel. The right shoe has that extended black area wrapping up around the right side (you see it in the pic) that helps facilitate heel & toe downshifting - the act of braking with your right foot but simultaneously blipping the throttle with the outside of that foot. This helps match engine revs for smoother downshifts. Yes, I bought them for the looks. And the color is Saddle. And to be totally ghey I got them because they closely match the color of the leather in the car...... They also come in oxblood, black and soy brown.
  17. Actually, this was Saturday - got up early and headed to Chicago to a breakfast place we had seen on TV called Over Easy. It was 50 degrees out but with the heater we were able to drop the top on the car and enjoy the sun. Breakfast was the best I've ever had. I had Sassy Eggs and it was just stunning how good it was. Debbie had a Nueva Mexican omelet that was equally as good. We also tried the vegetarian breakfast sausage. I was skeptical as I'm pretty much a cow & pig guy, but these were actually very good. All in all a great meal and I think the source of at least a monthly visit from now on. After finding out their coffee was from Julius Meinl we stopped by their store a few blocks away and bought two pounds of beans for home. We then drove to Hats Plus and picked up the fedora I posted in the other thread. A lovely drive home (by then around 70 degrees) got us there before noon with the biggest part of the day still left to do stuff. Overall a wonderful morning.
  18. My Dad always wore fedora's and I figured it was about time.
  19. Best wishes for her surgery tyrion. Picked these up on Friday: Piloti Sebring driving shoes. And this on Saturday: Stefeno Josef straw fedora.
  20. Happy Birthday Sir!
  21. It's a 2.0L DOHC 4 cyl. with variable valve timing. Mine has a 6-speed manual and limited slip diff. 166 hp and 140 lb. ft. of torque. Not bad in a 2500 lb. car.
  22. Picked this up last night: 08 Miata Grand Touring w/ Retractable Hardtop. They are currently offering $5000 rebates and were willing to deal on MSRP as well. Of course, I fully expected to be flamed to Hell for this:
  23. I'm a Claritin D with Nasonex man myself. With the occasional Mucinex Full Force 12 hour nasal spray assist. Ain't sinuses fun?
  24. It was an excellent show last night. That kid sure knows his way around a guitar. A nice translation of "My Favorite Things" plus an awesome cover of Derek & The Dominos' "Anyday" made for a great night. Can't remember when I've heard more emotion pour from a guitar. If you get the chance to see them, dew eet!!!
  25. Currently sitting at the Park West in Chicago to see the Derek Trucks Band.
