  1. Saw Duggeh on the last couple of days so:
  2. I just keep coming back to it.
  3. Having been bitten by the vintage bug, all I can say is DEW EET!!!!
  4. To my ears much more balanced and musical. I can live with this combo until I get the KLH's squared away. Hell day at work. Although one pleasure was finding out the manager of a Dept. who wanted a bunch of work from our Dept. was fired after lunch. So we just kinda let the email chain drop....
  5. I found out tonight that the new (to me) McIntosh is perfectly happy driving the PSB T55's while the KLH's are out of commission. I pulled the wounded woofer out and Kevin was right - cone separated from the voicecoil. It goes in for reconing tomorrow. Since they are down I ordered the caps to rebuild the crossovers. And ordered a spare pair of woofers from Ebay.
  6. Meat loaf with Rotel and chili sauce cooked on the grill and smashed potatoes.
  7. Feel better dude.

Well, I hope you find a way to get out here. It'd be great to see you. And if not we'll hold a spot open for next year.
  9. Word from Kevin is it sounds like the glue came loose from the voicecoil. So I think I'll order one of the two pair on Ebay and then also see about having the blown one re-coned. That way I'll have some spares. And I needed to open them up to get at the crossover, so no time like the present.
  10. Well, I'm very newb when it comes to speakers, but the left cable swapped to the right speaker sounds fine so I know it isn't the amp. And a gentle push on the left woofer returns a stiff movement and a crunchy sound, so I'm not holding out a lot of hope. I see two separate pair of woofers on Ebay so all may not be lost. And I also have a PM in to Dr. Gilmore since if anyone will know what my options are, he will. So I think I'll have some scotch and see how the McIntosh is with the LCD-2's.
  11. Maybe not as the left woofer, with a pop and a squeal, appears to have just joined Henry Kloss in Heaven..... Ouch.
  12. "A thick filling usually made from lotus seed paste is surrounded by a relatively thin (2-3 mm) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs" according to Wikipedia.
  13. It's powering the KLH's right now and I am a very happy listener. Next up is to recap the crossovers in the speakers. Just hope I don't feck them up. But I'm doing a ton of reading on it and will be taking my time. But even with 40 year old caps these things sound pretty damn good to my ears.
  14. Something appropriate to power the KLH Model Sixes.
  15. I like the Netflix interface. After initial input of email and password that is it. My Vizio tv has a Netflix app and it sucks. This is much better and includes search. Moving between items was fast and the streaming looked good. I will probably use Netflix the most on this and so far I like its implementation.
  16. Got mine yesterday. Haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet but so far I like it. It was fairly easy to set up (except for typing via the included remote) and connecting to my Netflix account was simple. My advice so far is to ditch the mini remote and use the updated Remote app from an iPhone or iPad. Picture quality seems good. I just did audio fed to the TV via HDMI and then back out to a dac and to the audio rig, but it sounded ok with both video and audio material. And it's a tiny little sucker.
  17. That sounds good.
  18. Yep. Someone ordered a glass a couple of weeks ago while I was in there. Since the bottle was open the bartender gave me a sample. Pretty horrific.
  19. Happy Birthday Santa!!!
  20. Just ordered chili verde and a warm frisee salad.
  21. I have a place in Indiana. They don't stock it but they can order it by the bottle for me. If interested shoot me a pm.
  22. With Kevin's donation of the KLH Model Sixes and the Wintek receiver I fell into the retro-fi camp. And I just ordered a McIntosh MA5100 to try in place of the Wintek so I'm pretty much getting into the retro mode.
  23. No, not for the weirdest cocktail ever, but a little wood restoration and some pleasant drinking. However, I did hear of an interesting new cocktail made with prune juice and wood alcohol - it' called a Shit or Go Blind.
