  1. I'm sure you guys are not talking about using 6c33 for a Stax amp or are you? I really like the heat and the shape of 6c33. Wachara C.
  2. Happy Birthday! :dan:
  3. Like Birgir's said, since the stators are insulated, the dust cover touching the stators won't make the noise. I would also check to see the condition of the dust cover on the side facing your ear. This side is more critical than the other side. Wachara C.
  4. I've found that bad solder joints could cause the noise too. Try resolder all the joints before you send them back to Stax. Also check to see if the dust covers are still good. Even a tiny hole on the dust cover can eventually lead to this problem. Wachara C.
  5. Nice work, Ume!
  6. I don't think your hissing problem comes from those cotton hair on your metal grill though. If anything were to cause a problem, it should to be inside the driver, trapped within the two dust covers. Unfortunately, I think your problem could come back again anytime.
  7. Hi Jwzhan, Do they not have a dust cover on the back side? Or do you open up the dust cover and find the hair trapped inside?
  8. The glowing tubes look super nice, RiStaR! Congratulations.
  9. The aluminum plate looks really nice Kerry.
  10. Depending on how loud you want to play, a pair of good size electrostatic headphone drivers can be used as a pair of desktop speakers too. You'll need a woofer to compliment the low frequencies though.
  11. Right! Tight dust cover can be a problem. Wachara C.
  12. Hi Birgir, I've been thinking of the back wave blocking issue with KS phones. Do you think that it's possible from the way they put the dust covers on? From my experience, the dust cover on the back side of the driver affects the sound quite a bit. If not done right, it's better not to have it. I personally don't like to put it on. Wachara C.
  13. Those black foams inside the cup are indeed not a good idea. Over time they'll deteriorate and become dust. Birgir, what material do you think the stators and spacers are made of?
  14. I listened to KS once and I didn't like its bass either. I bet if you take out all the damping material and give it a lot more open area at the back, the sound will be very different in a pleasant way.
  15. So do we need another regulated +300VDC power supply circuit?
  16. Just got the package. All the PCBs look nice. Thanks Tran.
  17. Birgir, how do you like the SR-Omega as compared to SR-007?
  18. Nice work Kerry. By the way, the clear nail polish works.
  19. Additional shipping cost sent.
  20. Those boards look really nice, Kerry.
  21. I had a chance to listen to KS with its tube amp earlier this week. The overall sound wasn't that bad, but I didn't quite like its bass. There's bass but it's different from Stax or mine DIY phones. It's rather difficult for me to describe it. But, I think the open area at the back side of the drivers is not enough or there is too much damping material. The bass just doesn't sound as "open". I also don't like its headband. It's just too small for my head.
