  1. Yeah, I got the sub part covered. Complete overkill for the small room and paper thin walls with neighbors in the condo.
  2. Some people on AVS forums claim that Emotiva amps are bass light, but I think that just means that they aren't boomy. I've been secretly wishing my NHT super zeroes would all die, but alas, my Receiver is buting the dust first.
  3. My NHT Super Zeroes are kind of old school Sennheiser like, laid back. Which amp(s) are brighter and have have nice, tight, punchy bass? I heard the Emotiva's are a bit light on the bass. -Ed
  4. If I wasn't going to buy the SVS Realiser I'd definitely go for a more powerful amp like that Bryston.
  5. MSRP: $3,495 USA LOL, um yeah. It's still more than twice my max budget used. Nice looking amp, though, and pretty compact.
  6. Is there a really small Pre Amp Processor? Would be hilarious on top of a huge amp.
  7. Damn, that's huge. Anyone have any experience with the Outlaw 7075? Outlaw Audio
  8. My old ass Harmon Kardon AVR-85 is losing it's channels one at a time. The surround channels are all but dead. But all the Pre outs work. So, I was thinking of using it as a Pre amp until I replace it. And get a Multichannel amp to power the 5 speakers I have now. (NHT Super Zeroes). My Velodyne HGS10 sub is still working (knock on wood). I plan on getting the Smyth Research Realiser as well, so single ended amp recommendations only, please. Eventually I'd like to get a better Pre Amp/processor (maybe the Emotiva UMC-1), but as of now, I'd like to keep my speaker related purchases as small as possible. (Around $500 hopefully, maybe up to $800) While it would serve the Smyth Realiser better to have a better Pre/Pro, I can't really afford to buy both a Pre/Pro and Amp. And not having sound for the TV while I enjoy my $2600 Realiser will piss the wife off. -Ed
  9. Get an iPod then. It has anodized aluminum body parts too and costs $600 now, not $999. And see above response again. That it will have up to 8 hours of battery life.
  10. Translation. I don't have $600 to spend on this flac player.
  11. Oh, what the hell. I preordered it. Sounded great at CanJam. The UI kind of sucks due to the retarded button positioning, but if I got used to the even more retarded wired remote on my iRiver iHP-120, then this one will be cake. In the end, it's a lot smaller and lightweight than carrying around even a UMPC and Pico. Although I will most likely carry all three. The part I like about the chunky nature of the HM-801 is it will probably draw little to no attention in muggable situations. Whipping out a netbook / UMPC with Pico on the otherhand would. And not very easy to use that way while walking around. -Ed
  12. Wow, clear is crystal clear (or more precise, acrylic clear). The cable is the same one used by Westone. They have a longer one available. Although, try asking Jerry, he might have some longer ones available. As for the short y-split, it's because it's designed to be worn behind the head. Yeah, i wish the longer one had a longer left and right side to the y-split. -Ed
  13. Was posted by Hocky guy in the HF thread.
  14. Hey, Patrick. Could you take a picture top down picture of the Carbon fiber case straight down. So it's a flat view. Almost like if you were to scan it on a flatbed scanner. Try to perhaps take it outdoors in sunlight if there is too much glare from the sunlight. Thanks.
  15. LOL, why would you want more pixels? You printing wall posters? If anything the larger pixels = less noise.
  16. Happy Birthday, Justin. I'd send some In N Out if it wouldn't get so nasty in the mail.
  17. Looking forward to seeing how the Uber Controller turns out. Looks like a great all-in-one solution for other Balanced Amps as well. Would love to have something like this controller implemented in a DynaMid or Beta22. -Ed
  18. LOL, what's with the Glock hate, Vicki?
  19. If the HM-801 somehow gets 24/96 added for the USB DAC part, that will probably put it in my "Must Buy Now" category.
  20. The spelling errors on the back laser etching doesn't bother me too much. The over use of tape labels is not an issue for me. My favorite sticker removal scheme is Goo Be Gone (not Goof Off, as it can damage plastics). Then follow up with alcohol. The sharpie cover up of scratches is completely unacceptable. The heat concerns me as well, as there is no real substantial heatsinking, only the thick aluminum panels. Which leads to undesirable effect like hot knobs. (RSA Raptor, anyone?) It sounds like the Phoenix could really be living up to it's name. Overall off to a bit of a shakey start. Not a slam dunk IMO. But then again, what should one expect for an amp that costs 1/2-1/3 of the competition? I think I might be firing up my soldering station sooner than later and finishing up that Balanced Gilmore Reference I've been putting off for 4 years now. -Ed
