  1. No pictures, no camera at the minute. Can't tell what the transformer is because its inside a mostly blocked metal cage.
  2. I didn't. From my understanding of Audiogon, it's vastly US-centric. Also the negative feedback I got from that ebay debacle seems to have finally gone.

^ Give that man a Turner Prize.
  5. Saving up or selling to buy. Except that sometimes when you try to sell, nobody wants what you're selling. Selling the Alpeh was supposed to help retroactively pay for the DAS-R1...
  6. Saving up is the sensible way. Which is why nobody ever does it.
  7. I'm not sure they told him.
  8. Xbox 360 is where it's at for a 100% hardware fail rate. My brother's about to start the process of sending in broken unit number 2. Even the Dreamcast was more reliable than that.
  9. Wii Fit is very very fun.
  10. Laundered the cat. Fed.
  11. There was some gap between the periods of ownership and it was a while ago. The differences I thought were there weren't much to write home about.
  12. I've heard two PS2 combos, one with the push button transformer and one with the flip switch. I can't comment on the other models.

    The poor mans uncyclopedia.
  14. Theres at least four, although the earlier ones are much rarer. Those are the PS2 model, the last one. The PS1 has a silver label, not black ans red, and the PS0 has no label and a tapered bottom and a different shaped headarch where the taper is the opposite way. I've also seen one example with a circular cut out in a more solid looking version of the ps0 headarch.
  15. Thats the better PS2 with the larger transformers.
  16. The jecklin electrostatics and the K1000 are very very different. Got a link? it should be easy to tell which version they are if the pictures are decent.
  17. I hate trackpads enough that I take the Revolution to classes, where all I'm doing is typing notes, because moving the cursor around to correct stuff or put something in the middle of something using the trackpad infuriates me. I have it disabled all the time. Probably gains me about 90 seconds battery life. What size of hard drive did yours ship with? I think that they're all up to 120 gig now. Not that my 80 gig one is even half full.
  18. VX Revolution is what you need. I never use trackpads on any laptop. I hate the things I prefer those keyboard nipples and those are awful too. In fact the only laptop pointer control I ever liked was the pop-out trackball on my Olivetti Philos 46. I've got the Wind with the original decent trackpad too. Maybe I could just cut it out with a stanley knife and send it to you.

  20. Some more information while I'm wheedling. When the headphones are connected and the amp is on but theres no input to the amp theres just the very lowest level of noise. Nonintrusive. Connect the left RCA input alone and that replaces the left channel low level hum with the low level "nothing playing yet" noise from the source. Which at the minute is an ipod. Just as insignificantly quiet. Connect the right RCA input alone and theres a slight buzzy hum in the right channel replacing the unconnected noise (which seems to be going away as the amp heats up). This level I could readily deal with. Connect both, and thats when the intrusive hum pops up, and is slightly louder on the right. It's not actually intrusive BAD, but its enough to annoy me because I'm not a high volume listener. And therein lies my rub.
  21. Arsebiscuits.
  22. If by continuity you mean all the earths are connected then yes. There is a screw post at one end of the board which the psu capacitors are banked on, a large number of wires connect to it, running from the RCA inputs, the XLR inputs, both earth speaker terminals and both amp boards. Both of the XLR inputs have their own resistors, although they're different to the right RCA one.
  23. Took the lid off the Aleph to have a proper peek for the first time. Of course, I've no idea whats really going on in there, but there is an asymmtry. The right RCA connector has a small resistor wired in line with one of the earth connections on the cable, the left RCA connect does not. Would this offer any kind of explanation for why one channel has hum?
