I wish I'd known that too. They take the billing when you check out?
  3. I'm going to remember that one.
  4. Roast chicken flavoured crisps. I don't like roast chicken flavoured crisps, but we didn't have any other flavours and I wanted crisps.
  5. Today was a compilation of irritation and ill-will. Everything broke today. Mouse, keyboard, monitor, broadband. I spent many unproductive hours on that last one. And thank The Dude I keep a spare old NEC flatscreen. Had really bad indigestion after breakfast, had crap soup for lunch and chewy meatballs for tea. Learned nothing of importance in the studious hours during which a ring binder spilled its contents onto the floor, the pages scattering like some sort of horrible cubist milk. Oh yeah, and cut myself shaving for the first time in as long as I can remember. Humbug.
  6. Old Pa merits a custom title for his culinary beauty.
  7. I regret that I must broadly concur with this sentiment. The O2 needs O2^3$ on amplification though. Where the JH13 needs JH13/5 +/- $100 in amp. The O2 is the better headphone. But the JH13 is the better for the money spent for $X. On the JH16: I wouldn't want any inflation in the low end over what the JH13 has. Similar to my comparible experience in hearing via available fit the UE10 to the UE11s. I prefer the "lean" option.

  9. I am person which has audio experiences.
  10. Doug has had so much free gear which he doesn't deserve the last few years that he has a chronic inflammation of his guilt gland. Jokes about raffles are about as welcome as head-caser of the year nominations for JaGWiRe.
  11. Other electret headphones that you don't have. IIRC, you've no bias supply, so you can't use a "proper" electrostatic.
  12. On an idealistic basis, I like 4.0 better than 5.1 It eliminates the subwoofer and the centre channel. If there were no centre channel then most DVDs wouldn't be mono with rumble feature and occassional rear speaker special effect and would at least be stereo. Unplug your centre speaker and see how long you can put up with having to use subtitles.

Bump for justice! www.Head-Case.org - View Profile: grawk = I don't get many people stopping by my profile, but I'd like them to maybe go "wtfz" when they do. And 640wtfz is better than 150wtfz.
  14. Hippitty Burpdai Old Bean! May your loins be filled with fruit!
  15. If we lived in the magical mystical fairyland where I had money for JH-13s I'd spend that money on an Emotiva XPA-2. Besides, if you delivered me a set of IEMs I'd suddenly be too busy listening to Vangelis to have a conversation.
  16. x2 Excepting exceptional circumstance.
  17. Thats a sucky afternoon. This is why I print anything of length I have to read. A 30 page PDF on a screen would take me three times as long to read as on paper. It's not environmentally sound, but it does also mean I can cover whatever I want in various colours of marker pen. Just be glad you don't have a CRT screen. I always found CRTs worse for eyestain.
  18. That was good reading. And Alison Moyet is great. My LP of Alf is probably my most played vinyl. The 99/99/909/63 was for years, since before I joined HF in fact, what I always saw myself building toward in a speaker rig. You're living my dream. You're going to get a chance to know your mono stuff better when that iffy speaker goes away for its health check too. Yay for Quad.

  21. A gentle underhand serve from an 8 year old to a cyborg Roger Federer. Whatever the outcome, China controls the game. If they decide to say "Fine. Bye" They get to do what the fuck they want as they currently do. There will be more than one provider willing to step in in Googles place for that market and bend to the policies of the Chinese government. If they decide to say "We capitulate. Lets give it a go." Then they'll get huge diplomatic and press gains in terms of human rights and open information, which they will deftly exploit despite the fact that in practical terms, they'll mean nothing much. They'll still be happy to execute any more British chaps who fall foul of their laws. (I actually didn't have a problem with that execution, but I digress) I'll not comment on the politics further. I don't want to get into a dispute over ideology or opinions on world foreign policy. Google is making a very risky business decision here and I can't understand why. Unless its a surprisingly large effort to maintain or repair their image as "nice boys/good guys" in the technology industry at a time when they're being seen more and more as Microsoft 2.0
