  1. HD201? They look like big legoman headphones. I'll bet they sound no worse than the 280 Pro though.
  2. So is this a change to the functionality of the tag or is it a new [imgw] / [imgs] tag?
  3. Iceland isn't so far...
  4. Jeez $350 for an 007t? Milkpowder will be sad he missed that one. I think he's selling his lambdas to beef up from the 006t for his HE60. The auctions end tonight, hes set for about
  5. Hows your inbox doing of late Spritzer? The Stax really is flowing thick and fast for FOTM no-clue interested parties now. Had any really daft questions fired your way yet?
  6. Oh waddragon, welcome to head-case. I see fire in your future.
  7. I've had the JW Gold before a few times. Its a good whisky, although not worth its RRP when Macallan 10 is half the price and just as nice, different beasts though. Never had the Jameson before and I don't like peaty whisky.
  8. Hardly in keeping with the Scottish single malt way of things, however I did only pay
  9. You'll want rid of it then. I upgraded my kettle to Nordost at Patrick82's recommendation and it made my pasta taste much better, biggest improvement was tea though, bags tasted like the best loose leaf.
  10. I would guess that is how the ALIO amp drives the H2. If memory serves me correctly, the chap who owns that amp company used to be an engineer at Stax. http://www.byon.co.jp/pr_compact.html
  11. Hi-MD is still cool in 2008. I would love an RH1. Hax.
  12. Don't even need that, just cut the XLR plug off the H2 and use some cocktail sticks to wedge the bare wires into the Stax socket
  13. Yeah polygamy is great. I was thinking about constructing an elaborate metaphor to describe my relations with each headphone in wife terms, but I cant be arsed. I get better amplification for the Orthodome out of my Sony MZ-R91 minidisc player than out of my iPod Photo and the minidisc player has got to be like 9 years old now. It only gets use when I've forgotten to charge the iPod though. I dont like being limited to one album despite the fact that I tend only to use my iPod in 15-20 minute sessions. What would these modifications to the player be btw?
  14. Well a couple of evenings careful experimentation has resulted in no explosions, I'm still reluctant to leave the H2 connected continuously to the SRM-717 until longer term verification that nothing bad is happening to the headphone or the amp. There's not a huge amount of difference between direct drive from the 717 and the Pass Labs/TR-2 drive. I'd give the nod to the 717 overall though. A big nod once you look at the difference in price between an adapter cable and the TR-2 of course. I also plugged the H2 into the SRM-212, and at anything other than the total bottom of volume control there's a mass of distortion and scratching sound as the H2 tries to suck every last drop of power out. With the Omega 2 on the head, listening, and then connecting the H2 to the 717, the result is sonic disaster. Volume drops a chunk, and the O2 becomes nothing but a bloated mid-bass cabinet speaker. The difference is vast. Driving the Omega 2 from the SRM-212 has a hundred times better sound than the O2 with the H2 also connected. The H2 really is going Dracula on the life blood of the 717. Conversely with H" on head and then unplug the O2, theres barely any change. I'm all over the place at the minute as the end of term and exams are marching up. But I'll certainly include some deeper info about all of this when I update the H2 review. It'd be good of someone has the means to try plugging an H2 into the KGBHSE at Canjam. See what happens.
  15. I'm down to one dynamic, the Float 2. The last dynamic I bought was the DR100 and they lasted only 3 days (the time until the SFI drivers arrived) before I took them apart. Then the Orthodome was born. Currently running on 1 AMT, 1 stat, 1 piezo, 1 ortho, 1 dynamic and the surrounder, which defies classification. But I'd make room in my bosom for many more, K1000, Ergo 2, Yamaha YH-5M, they'd all be nice. The iPod is right near the top of its amp output to get the Orthodome at listening levels I'm comfortable with, but perhaps I listen at a lower volume than many people. Or perhaps the method and type of damping and the housing plays a big part in the overall efficiency.
  16. Loo roll Spritzer. Those SFI drivers love some loo roll damping.

I fucking love that lobster one. New desktop pic.
  18. Remember to have them really close to the amp end than the speakers though otherwise the lovely soldering work in them will spoil the finish on the cabinets.

^^ That's brilliant. Puts me in mind of
  20. Quad L-ites or 9L?
  21. Someone should wiki the page and then change it to the new one so that the differences there are can be easily viewed in red font.
  22. It to arrive... Also I'm going to plug into an SRM-212 first. Just in case some unforeseen and freak circumstance might damage the amp or headphones. Id rather blow up a 212 than a 717. But the 212 is 12 miles away. Ill get it while I'm back home tomo.
  23. The amazing typo. It should be on. F and N aren't even next to each other.
  24. Tragically 30 watts into 88dB and no sub doesn't give me the power to trample my neighbours underfoot with volume. I think my housemates would have been less than pleased with any audio drag racing too, although one of them can go choke of a bowl of dicks, I do give a rats ass about the others.
  25. One of a kind (probably), Stax to XLR cable from Spritzer. We shall soon see how the H2 does with some direct drive.
