  1. $1500 RS-1s,and now $3400 PS-1s? Its no wonder the OII has had a recent surge in popularity.
  2. i actually literally poured some coffee out in my front lawn for billy's meridian.
  3. *marks calendar that he might never forget* good luck billy!
  4. catscratch's description is spot on. The 840a > srd7 was powerful and just slightly to the bright side. IOW, the sound of the 840a came through.
  5. Hell naw, folks dealing with Mikhail's nonsense need to get in his face about it and call him out. Seems to be the only thing that does any good. 4N6 was referring to a post of mine in which I said that customer service is probably the hardest part of being a one man amp building company. Having heard the nonsense certain non-Mikhail amp builders have to put up with, and taking into account my personal experience in general customer service, I declared that a lot of audiophiles were assholes.
  6. sounds like a plan!
  7. I've been out of the Stax game for a few months now, and I just checked out the current US retail on an OII. Jesus! $2400? Wasn't it less then a year ago that Elusive Disc was running a special on them for $1800?
  8. I've been craving haggis for almost a decade now. I had it on my post high school trip to Scotland and have been unsuccessful in procuring any since.
  9. wow, the mfsl vinyl is brick walled as well?
  10. i'm pissing in the dark here, but "discrete" usually is better then non discrete (op amp based?), if that is what deepak means.
  11. I've been having O2 cravings lately. Vinyl is king. Having never owned a high end table I don't know what I'm missing. What I do know is I've squeezed more enjoyment out of my budget vinyl rig then my mid fi digital rig. Any future source monies will go towards my vinyl rig, but I'm still remarkably satisfied with my 1200, 18 months after I bought it.
  12. man i'd love to hear some maggies, or really any planar speakers.
  13. Yeah, it came out of left field. Glad I made the right choice! My humble collection so far has Tunisia, Soul Station, Big Beat, and now Moanin', Blue Train, and Bluesnik. I've always been a fan of Blakey, but I'm just absolutely loving the Mobley. Definitely want to get some more of his stuff. So smooth, so chill, yet so swingin'. I wish the Acoustechs were a fancy gatefold. The Music Matters gatefolds are so shiny, vivid, and beautiful that I actually feel like they are worth $50. They way they used the negatives to reproduce those photos really makes them look like a still shot from an HD movie.
  14. happy birthday deepak!
  15. nice! maybe one day I'll get some planar speakers. thats far into the future though.

SNL was GREAT on Saturday. Since spring they have been in a major upswing, the writing and comedic talent are the best since the Ferrell era. 18. Hearing a lot of the behind the scenes stuff, I'm thinking the customer service might be the hardest part. A lot of audiophiles are shitty customers.
  19. Hoffman 45s: Blakey - Moanin' Coltrane - Blue Train Jackie McClean - Bluesnik I was actually trying to decide between Brooks or Silver, but I listened to the McClean online and it was my favorite of the three.
  20. I forgot about this. Stronger abs and a smaller belly will greatly reduce the amount of weight the lower back has to carry. After I lost 20 then 30 pounds this past spring, the strain on my lower back dropped completely. I haven't thrown my back out yet this year, and I'm crossing my fingers I make it through fall without doing so.
  21. I'm assuming this is mostly lower back pain? Any upper back/neck/shoulder pain? For my upper back/neck/shoulder pain, the information on this website fixed it. Much of the information on that site could also benefit lower back pain, things like standing and sitting up straight. Ibuprofen is my favorite painkiller for back pain, but I have to take 4 regular strength for them to work.
  22. Bah! Well I'll probably find a way to squeeze both in there. Thanks for your impressions.
  23. I do believe that now the gain in my system is sufficient. I keep the volume on my 840A between -27 and -20, if that tells you anything. Well it tells you that I still have headroom to swing the pot, I suppose. It would be great if the gain was more easily adjustable on the Bugle as well, so I could try it out with a SUT if I wanted to, but I understand that might not be possible.
  24. Blu-tack, great idea! PM inc.
