They did explain why somewhere but I forgot. Doesn't really matter to me, all sounds the same.

CBR Flac (redbook) is 1411. Most flac are vbr, for some reason tidal prefers to stream at cbr.
-
Tidal streams at constant bit rate of 1411kbps. Roughly you could estimate 300mb an hour. Much better to download albums over wifi for offline listening.

i get much much better results using google. for example just go to google and search for "headcase neko dac", first result is this thread: i pretty much never use a forum's search function anymore.

I'm going to see fucking Primus tomorrow. So stoked. This tour they are doing Set I Primus songs, Set II they are covering Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then encore with some more Primus stuff. I've been listening to a lot of Primus and getting excited. Next weekend I'll be in Atlanta for Slayer/Suicidal Tendencies/Exodus.

From the manufacturer: Review from head-fi: fuck yeah less grain. i HATE GRAIN.

I've always used cheap sanus stands and they perform the job of elevating the speaker the appropriate height off the ground. I don't doubt that good speaker stands can make a difference in audio, but my speakers are like $500, I'm not going to spend a shitload on speaker stands. Those solidsteel stands look cool though. Trying to figure out if they would work in my den.

Could also ask Ric how he's enjoying his Zu speakers. They are efficient and seem to share the same musical reproduction philosophy you do. Plus they look snazzy.

I was never able to get the fit right either. A lot of headphones just won't fit my noggin. I think my head is more cone like and long than big, causes issues with just about every one size fits all can.

No way to add local files.

Just read the innerfidelity review, i basically 100% agree with skylabs impressions. He nailed what i was trying to say about the midrange. I havent had an hd650 for some time but I'm thinking this would be a great match.

FWIW Shelly, after a brief evening of listening, using the DAC in the HA-1 for both amps, I slightly prefer the Supra as a headphone amp. The HA-1 amp is great, definitely not bright, but there is a slight hardness in the midrange (male vocals) and less bass bloom. Years of loud live amplified music have made me prefer bass bloom, YMMV. Impressions subject to change as my brain burns in, and I haven't tried the balanced output on the HA-1 yet. I see nothing to complain about regarding the DAC in the HA-1. Haven't compared to the Neko yet directly.

No issues with logging in and out for me, that would be annoying. Also LastFM scrobbling works fine for me. This is on Android. Just discovered they have a shitload of grateful dead, like everything. Road trips dicks picks complete Europe 72 etc. Enough for me to probably sell off my extensive dead CD collection.

Agreed, just watched the last episode today. Great finale. The whole series was a slow burn, full of really wonderful performances, not a single stinker in the whole cast.

Yeah actually now is the best time.

Real tempting. These are the speakers I want for the HT but now is not a good time.

also that solidsteel rack looks tight as hell.

LOL dad sounds awesome.

Well I updated the drivers on my little wifi USB stick, working much better now. The TiDAL chrome client works great, songs start in just a few seconds. Sounds great, works great. All in all a really impressive launch for this service, I expected it to be much buggier. I anticipate I'll be a subscriber for a while to come.

Missing out on the GS-1 that dreamwhisper ended up getting is what made me buy the HA-1. Got tired of waiting around for a good solid state headphone amp.

The PC app is disappointing. I was really hoping for an option to be able to download and store the files locally, much like you can on the phone. I know this is an issue specific to me, but my internet on my PC sucks. I have Uverse so the router is in the other room, and the signal is choppy at best on the PC. I was hoping to accumulate a large TiDAL library on my desktop so I didn't have to worry about the songs taking ages to load. Having said that, the songs do play eventually in the browser, and once they start playing they play all the way through. That's better than I can say for the performance of the Google Play web app, which would get hung up in the middle of songs frequently, depending on the strength of my connection at that time. I guess I could invest in a WiFi repeater or something like that, would be useful for general web browsing on the desktop as well. Regarding available albums, first impressions are selection is not quite as good as Google Play (which isn't quite as good as Spotify). Random TiDAL album tidbits: -Only one Arcade Fire album available (Reflektor, their newest) -All of LCD Soundsystem is available, except for Sounds of Silver! The best record is missing. Disappointing. -Lots of newer shit is on there though, like the new Ben Frost I mentioned earlier, the new Primus, new Perfect Pussy, new White Lung. I do hope they eventually offer offline listening for the PC app, but I'm happy to have it on the phone. I'm happy enough with the service to keep it for a while. We'll see what happens moving into the future.

I signed up, at first glance it has a lot of the records I currently have in Google Play, and the android app is pretty slick. similar to google play but actually functions better. Will check out the PC app when I get home. This could be a game changer for me and my listening habits if it pans out. EDIT: first listen on my phone > V-Moda M100, listened to Ben Frost's "Aurora", a new release I've been listening to a lot lately, experimental electronic/analog slightly scary noise type music. Sounds really really great, I am happy. THIS IS RED BOOK THIS IS THE EDGE
