  1. cayenne pepper!
  2. tapatalk has trouble with the larger threads (slow forum, last bought). it generates 10 posts, from seemingly random times.
  3. this is cool, thanks! much faster and easier to read then safari. easier to type and post as well (no random bullshit slow typing).
  4. Todd, is headcase on the "tapatalk network"? if so I'll happily guinea pig the new version.
  5. 5 Vegas Gold.
  6. i know we all slammed some newbie for requesting this a couple years back, but these days 90% of my HC viewing is from my iPhone, so I'm all for this.
  7. smoked a Carlos Torano Noventa on Saturday. it was alright. get my sampler in tomorrow from CI, looking forward to trying some new mild smokes.
  8. I have an LP of saint-saens organ symphony with bass that makes my hairs stand on end. organ is probably cheating though.
  9. ;) *nudge*
  10. awesome.
  11. actually the way to go would be to make sure they don't sound like shit. then procure the Ebbets needledrops and Fabulous Sound Lab versions. from someone.
  12. In my opinion just do the SR60 until you are ready to step up to the SR225. And then its the MS2i, or HF-1, HF-2, then RS-1, though I've never heard the RS-2. edit: also I've never heard the MS-1
  13. also the plasticky smell did kick back up once the fan got going. I put a box of baking soda in there, we'll see after a day or so if that works.
  14. Well the fridgador is up and running. It's been on for a couple days with a half oz of beads, but I just introduced the hygrometer last night. At the lowest temperature setting I'm getting 60 degrees F and 68% humidity. I'm surprised the humidity is so high, I thought I'd need more beads. I have one cigar in there! I'm being very careful in my purchases because it's clear I only appreciate milder smokes. I think I'm going to pickup a mild sampler from CI.
  15. Wiped it down with distilled water, then distilled water and a small amount of dawn, then did a rinse wipe down with more distilled water. Seems to have alleviated the smell already. Its sitting in place in the other room as we speak. Haven't turned it on yet.
  16. the outlets do have the two different size receptacles, so polarity should be good. thanks Dan. Continuing to calibrate the hygrometer. when I first got it in I really fiddled with the calibration knob so it messed me up (I didn't realize the read out wouldn't change until I hit the set button). it was pretty good straight out of the box though, just 1% low. it's back in the Humidipak bag now and hopefully should be correct by tomorrow morning. I also got my beads in but I think I might need more. Only ordered a half pound. We'll see. The Edgestar does have a strong plastic smell. I think I'll try scrubbing I with distilled water and a mild detergent and then let it air out for a day. And I managed to procure one empty wood box from a liquor store.
  17. Okey dokey, an electrical question for you folks out there. Got the Edgestar in today, everything looks groovy. Problem is its a three prong plug, and the place I want to set it up (extra bedroom) has only two prong outlets. The manual of course says to plug it into a grounded outlet. What I want to do is use a cheater 3 pin to 2 pin plug. I use cheater plugs all over my house on all kinds of stuff with no ill effect, but not on my refrigerator. I don't know anything about electricity, so I just want to make sure this is safe.
  18. The Beatles - Abbey Road BC-13 box vinyl. sounds awesome with the grado silver cart. unrefined, but fun. and awesome.
  19. love my Chatham 2399 in the Wheatfield. it's like a better 5998.
  20. i read stereophile. it's cheap.
  21. Ryan Adams - Best Album Ever the newer double LP
  22. thats awful Steve. unfortunately i have no experience to offer you on this subject.
  23. thanks matt for the generous offer! i'll try to get friendly with my local cigar shops, and if I don't get lucky I'll holler at you.
  24. x2 on the 5998s. I guess they run $40 apiece? to me RCA 6SN7s always have an insanely rich midrange, but fuzzy in the highs and lows. so not neutral, but still some of my favorite 6SN7s. these are the grey glass RCAs, not sure if there are different sounding ones.
  25. there are a bunch of these Edgestar 28 bottle units for sale on eBay for $200 shipped. they get pretty good reviews overall around the net, the best reviews specifically coming from cigar enthusiasts. I think this is the one. now all I need is some cigar boxes and humidity beads.
