  1. Little late with this one: Depeche Mode 1 September 2009 Lakewood Amphitheatre Atlanta, GA In Chains Wrong Hole to Feed Walking in My Shoes It's No Good A Question of Time Precious Fly on the Windscreen Jezebel Home Miles Away/The Truth Is Policy of Truth In Your Room I Feel You Enjoy the Silence Never Let Me Down Again Encore: Somebody Stripped Behind the Wheel (extended hard dance version) Encore 2: Personal Jesus Waiting for the Night Awesome show. High energy from the whole band, especially Gahan, who is one of the happiest freaking frontmen I've seen live. My one quibble is he does that thing a lot where he holds the mic out to the crowd to sing the chorus. There were entire songs where he didn't even sing the chorus once. Gore was the real attraction for me. They are both amazing vocalists, and I still consider Gahan to be the best, but it was Gore's singing that really got to me. Truly better to hear it live then to listen to records at home, which means it has only improved with age. I had not been to Lakewood since the last time Phish played. Lakewood is also the place I saw Phish for the first time so it holds special significance. My girlfriend and her friend were given passes to the after show meet and greet by someone on the event staff, so I was able to walk around and kill some time in the venue while they met M. Gore. ) here's a shot of roughly where I was standing when I first saw Phish in 2000. I was 18 years old.
  2. looks like tons of win will ensue. I shoulda come.
  3. war damn eagle. would love to kick some tide ass this year.
  4. thanks for the info Steve! will the vinyl box be in mono?
  5. oh no sir, you misunderstand! I was responding to Asr's above request for popular mainstream metal/industrial releases. I've had all those albums forever.
  6. Highly popular mainstream metal or industrial albums: Slayer - Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power, Far Beyond Driven Ministry - Psalms 69 (The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs) NIN - Broken, The Downward Spiral Metallica - all through s/t, skip to Death Magnetic Megadeth - all through Countdown to Extinction Sepultura - all through Chaos A.D. to me "mainstream" industrial ended with The Downward Spiral, and most of the good "mainstream" metal was 80s / 90s. the above is a horrendously incomplete list, am on iPhone. not sure if I consider current contemporary favs mainstream. Opeth, Mastodon, etc.
  7. happy birthday!
  8. sounds nice!

    Perfect songs.

awesome. and you're right, the live version stomps the studio version, which suffers from that "we're all snorting ritalin" issue that you see a lot in studio songs of that era. I'd also add "Fight Test". I dunno about Song #2. Grows to weary to be perfect, IMO. With you on the other two though. Its a masterpiece and Mercury is a god. Agreed. My vote for most perfect Genesis song is always "Firth of Fifth". I can't listen to this song and not give it my absolute full attention.
  10. whenever I ask for monitor recommendations I got room treatment recommendations. Today, if someone put a gun to my head and made me buy monitors, it would be the mini Harbeths, no doubt. I'd keep all my Quad electronics (99 Pre > 909). that new radial driver looks badass, though I've never heard it: out of your price range I guess. glad to be unhelpful! but I'd consider Nate's advice as well. Those $700 Paradigms look great. I have never heard them but have read plenty of positive reviews, and almost bought some myself a while back. If you do a sub eventually, I can recommend the budget SVS, but keep in mind throwing this in your system will pretty much destroy the transportability aspect. The SVS subs are freaking heavy. I have the cylinder sub and it gets attention from everybody that comes into my house. "Nice speakers. What is that? A sub? Thats a sub?!"
  11. 601, pretty sure it's a Green. one of the best cigars I've tried, in my limited experience. also had an Oliva Serie O and Partagas Short this weekend.
  12. yes, the look is very 90s car audio, which I like. shopping around for decks, I think the current trend for head units is a more stock look. mine even has the old detachable face! do car stereos even get stolen anymore?
  13. couple pics of the humi:
  14. Eclipse CD5030 the CDP in my car died, and Ford charges something like $800 to replace it, so I just went down to the local car audio shop and bought this. Added bonuses include hands free bluetooth for my iphone (which is way awesomer then I thought it would be) and a USB connection which I haven't used yet, but I'm going to pickup a thumb drive and load it with MP3s. Fun deck, I haven't purchased an after market car stereo since I was a teenager.
  15. well i just tried my DCC of Queens "Night at the Opera" with the DCC GZS-1144 by itself, in brackets, and in parentheses, and it scrobbled correctly with all of them. i dunno.
  16. could it have something to do with brackets? I have endless different versions of the same album and have always had trouble scrobbling when I have "MFSL" or "(MFSL)" at the end, or "WB-234234A" or "(Diament)" (drop the quotation marks).

    Avatars.

so we got a Five Guys in Mobile, I'm totally obsessed. I think the fries are even better then the burgers.
  19. Yesterday a Plasencia Reserve. It was OK, easy draw, mild taste. I'll smoke the other four eventually but not super feeling it at the moment. other then that is pretty much just been Partagas Shorts, which are awesome. really the perfect size and strength combination for me, and that whole sugar sunshine thing it does in the last third is hard to beat.
  20. yeah, the Harbeths are the rich man's non-active Quads.
  21. yup, a Gourmet White. olive oil and garlic base, mozzarella and feta, red onion, sun dried tomatoes, regular tomatoes, and some other tasty toppings. best pizza ever.
  22. awesome. at work they gave me a card, a balloon, and a gift certificate to my favorite Mexican restaraunt. GF bought me Mellow Mushroom.
  23. so what is awesome about the above is this week I drop the iphone and start having "stuck button" issues with my standby button. Meaning it can get stuck and send the iphone into a continuous turn on/shut down loop. I had the same thing happen with my down volume button a few months ago, and it has slowly gotten worse. Meaning it will turn my ringer all the way down or turn my call volume all the way down. So my iphone is slowly approaching unusability.
  24. I guess I haven't been posting as much? HC is still my most visited site. I must click "New Posts" three dozen times a day. Thanks all for the birthday wishes! It's been the best birthday ever so far. my mom gave me some cookies with a candle in it, mom and dad bought me buffalo wings and TCBY on tuesday, GF bought me Mario Kart and is taking me out Saturday, sister and bro-in-law gave me a $50 amazon gift certificate, and my 3 and 5 year old nieces called me and sang happy birthday. well Smith sang, Mimi just told unkin Jack about the chik fil a they got.
