  1. Tim Powers - Declare on the Kindle. good so far, of course. anyone else read this one yet?
  2. i don't know.
  3. so there is officially no multitouch on the Nexus One. then who gives a rats ass about it? next please. next please!
  4. the hi-fi news test lp will give you a lot of confidence in your alignment. The anti-skate tests at the end of side one pretty much reveal all. If you can sail smoothly through the third test, your alignment is outstanding. Nobody sails smoothly through the fourth test. i also like the one that I think tests cartridge resonance, with the british guy saying things like "20 hertz".... "40 hertz"... "1,000,000 hertz!" and the buzzing sound keeps getting louder and more high pitched. its pretty exciting!
  5. Tickets to Trey and Classic TAB, Feb 27th, Tabernacle, Atlanta.
  6. Neal Casal - Roots & Wings FLAC and MP3 download: Neal Casal Official Website For those that don't know, Neal Casal is a member of the Cardinals, Ryan Adams band of more recent years. I've listened to this record a few times and its pretty good. Much sweeter sounding then typical Cardinals stuff, which honestly isn't always to my liking, but the guy can certainly pen a tune.
  7. stop "running them in" and start posting impressions, or aardvark will ban you.
  8. nicely done! was it hard popping the shell off? the video that circulates around the internet makes it look pretty easy.
  9. Phish 12/31. Mike, did the iPhone pic come out? Three great sets of music. Phish has come a long ass way since their comeback show 3/6/09. As of 12/30, Phish played more original songs in 2009 then in any year of their career. At the end of the show, Trey said, "See you next summer." Most likely they are taking a break because Page is having a kid this spring. Well I'm already chomping at the bit to be dancing on the lawn with my friends again. Here is a sweet vid of the after midnight hi-jinx:
  10. This is awesome, by the way.

  13. nothing funny about XRCD either.
  14. happy birthday man!
  15. we are officially homesick and ready to sleep in our own bed tomorrow. totally pumped for the show tonight though. will probably go in when the doors open, I like avoiding the crowd and watching the venue fill up.
  16. Quad ESL-63 USA Monitor. Going to pick them up this weekend!
  17. happy birthday!
  18. that flavor is amazing!
  19. the Safari is an awesome pen. what kind of ink are you using? if you are ever looking to step it up and spend a little more, consider the Pelikan M200. it's my favorite "budget" FP. runs around $60 IIRC.
  20. my original, non-3G iPhone had these issues. I could never hear my calls well, except to my mom who talks loud. I constantly had to ask people to repeat themselves. furthermore, my ringer was never loud enough. if I wasn't in the same room with it, I couldn't hear it. all these problems are fixed with my new 3GS. I have to turn the volume down on calls now, and the ringer is very loud. but my original iPhone was the worst phone I ever owned. if it wasn't such an amazing portable web browser I wouldve ditched it a long time ago.
  21. reks' extensive classical collection.
  22. I straight up hated the idea of a Kindle, or buying eBooks, because I'm a book lover and collector. Posts in this thread will bear me out. But after talking about it with my dad, he surprised me with a new Kindle a few weeks ago. I absolutely love it! I primarily love the e-ink, and the ease of holding the device and turning pages. Second I love being able to highlight and take clippings, as well as easily look up words. And I actually love shopping in the Kindle store. Yay amazon, boo me, I'm done with turning physical pages! and while you're at it, until you invent a lunch gun, i'll take my sadness pile in a failure bowl! ammmeeerrriiccaa, eatin all my food in just one bowl!!!
  23. happy birthday!
  24. nothing confirmed, but word is he passed an hour ago. if so, rest in peace
  25. Vic Chesnutt in a coma - Americana and roots music - No Depression word is that it doesn't look good. a real fucking shame if he doesn't pull through. I saw him play with Widespread Panic NYE in Atlanta, 2001. I had no idea who he was and it was amazing. I have been a fan ever since.
