Never had an extreme but one of the most magical (at least to my memory) setups I ever had was the Modwright 999ES > PPX3 Slam > RS-1. Too bad the PPX3 Slam exploded my RS-1 driver (which Grado fixed out of warranty for $100). to be fair I thought it was a bad tube that exploded the RS-1, but long after I sold my PPX3 I got a tube tester and the tube tested fine. so who knows really. all I know is I've been all solid state ever since.

saw them open for Opeth a few years back, then saw them again last month at Bonnaroo. They put on a fantastic show, raw and relentless. I planned on leaving their set at 'Roo to see another band midway through but they sucked me in and wouldn't let me leave. those dudes have been through a lot of drama recently, I love seeing them push on and continue to create exceptional music.

apple orange banana spinach water I've dubbed this smoothie "Nothing Too Fancy". The most basic fruits and the most basic spinach. Always light and delicious.

s'true what they say about humidity. it was 117 when we were in Vegas, but it honestly felt nice (kind of like standing in front of an open oven nice, but still nice) compared to being in the 90s with high humidity at home in the South.

i like the GIF. its an amazing appliance, one of the few luxuries I can recommend to anyone on just about any budget.

I think you need a little more sweet fruit. A nice fuji apple always does the trick, I put an apple in just about everything. The sriacha was a little daring. Ginger adds a nice spice that might be more pleasing to the palate. Don't be afraid to put more water to make the smoothie thinner or more drinkable. I always put a fairly significant amount of water in my green smoothies so I can down them quicker.

agreed, the last thing I needed was for the driving to be harder. i already sucked at it.

TOO MUCH KALE apple orange tastes like rainy fruity dirt. kale is a harsh ingredient. its nice though.

Never used peanut butter in mine so I can't vouch for that. I've never had to remove the blade assembly. 95% of the time we just put in 4 cups of water, a few drops of dish liquid, and ramp it up to high and let it run for a while, then rinse. Every now and again we give it a good scrub with a sponge. After almost two years of ownership and almost daily uses, this has been enough.

looks great, will use this. thanks for sharing.

Anyone here heard the Fidelio X1? $272 at amazon right now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B3QD94O/ref=s9_wish_gw_d2_g23_ir04?ie=UTF8&colid=2XATW4WLXS21R&coliid=I2QU1AHXV9CI17&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=06RZM1YT2J02CSW67P2D&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 I'm looking for a phone that will serve dual purpose as a fun EDM phone (read: slamming bass without fatiguing highs) and late night television watching (read: comfortable and again non fatiguing). I know Tyll likes them: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/big-bottom-and-lively-top-philips-fidelio-x1 Trying to decide between the X1 or the V-Moda M100. The M100's closed design could be nice for listening in the office. Can't believe I'm going to have a job where I can listen to headphones at work, so awesome. Currently using my Shure 215s for these purposes, which are great IEMs but I don't always want to cram something into my ear canal.

we pretty much never put anything but fruit and veggies in ours, except for a dessert smoothie we make sometimes. Frozen bananas (like 2-3) Soy milk/milk substitute, 3-4 cups Some sort of chocolate powder, like hersheys Tastes like a milkshake, which it basically is I guess.

The 5200 is more than enough for home needs. And the reconditioned models receive high ratings. The 7500 is shorter and wider, 40% quieter and 10% more powerful. Its up to you if the price is worth it. The 5200 is loud as hell, like so loud you have to shout to have a conversation while its on in the same room, but since its only ever running for a few minutes at a time this doesn't bother me. Vitamix's warranty service is also reportedly awesome. 7 year standard warranty IIRC. They stand behind their products.
-
That is my understanding. However, I never owned a regular blender before the Vitamix, so I never personally tried to do green smoothies in anything but the vitamix.

We used mustard greens a few times in our smoothies, didn't like the results. Spinach is far and away the most mild, you can put tons in there and the fruit will still cover it up. Kale is the obvious favorite because its a super duper healthy food, but it adds a very strong earthy/dirty taste to anything. I've grown to love the taste, its like drinking a dirty weird salad, but I think after a couple years of drinking it my brain knows how good it makes me feel, so its trained me to enjoy the taste.

Every couple years or so I email Sound Organisation to see if there is a Rega dealer in my area, never having any hope that there will be. I've been buying all my gear via the internet since I got into this game in 2006, and as much as I love the many benefits internet shopping provides, I have always wanted to form a relationship with somebody local. I like doing business with people I know, which is probably why I've completely stopped using ebay, audiogon, or even head-fi, I'd much rather buy and sell my crap here rather than deal with the teeming mass of insanity that is the open interwebs market. Lo and behold they get back with me, and there is a new hi fi dealer not to far from me: http://www.ellingtonhifi.com/ The owner emails me and tells me about all his brands. He carries Rega (he is the only Rega dealer in Alabama), VPI, Quadraspire, which are brands I have some familiarity with, and some other brands as well: Clearaudio (never really been impressed by anything they've done) Dynaudio speakers, AMR, IFI Micro, Octave, and T+A. I told him my situation straight up, that I'm not in the market to buy right now because I'm out of work until later in the summer, but would still love to come back and check out his shop and listen some stuff, but didn't want to waste his time. He was really friendly in his reply, saying that he is about to get a pair of Joseph Audio Perspectives in, and would love for me to come by and spin some records and hang out, no pressure to buy or anything. I also saw on twitter he was spinning Widespread Panic, so I know he's a major dude. Anyone ever heard any Joseph Audio stuff? Generally it looks way out of my price range (the perspectives run ~$11,000/pair) but I'd be stoked to hear a crazy expensive speaker like that, and it appears to be well reviewed. I guess there is no real point to this post, other than to express my happiness that my next turntable purchase could be in person with a real live human being. I also think its a testament to the steady growth in appeal of hi fi that a dealer has opened up in Loxley, AL of all places. And I'd love to finally hear a VPI table after reading countless reviews of their stuff. Anyone have any decent local audio dealers they've formed a relationship with? I guess I could use some tips on etiquette and whatnot, since this will all be new to me.

Stopping here, will proceed for at least a few more episodes. Will report back if I get into it.

As much as I love String I found the first episode of Luther quite awful and never followed up. Stereotypical angry cop with the wife leaving him, and that villain girl was ridiculous. The episode started out interesting and very quickly became stupid. Sooooo should I keep watching? BTW Al and whoever else pushed me were correct on The Killing. I was really bored at first but all the build up in the first season led to a really engaging second season. I loved the development of our two leads. Continuing my unemployed until August 1st pattern of watching craploads of Netflix after studying for the CPA exam in the mornings, I've been watching Sons of Anarchy Season 1. A friend of mine describes this show to me as big dumb fun, and that's pretty accurate. Fine art it ain't but its entertaining and I do care about some of the characters.

Came out a little while ago, last year I think? Pinkerton just came out. Sounds great, but then again IIRC the original mastering didn't sound too bad either. The vocals and guitar work are particularly clear on the MFSL, today was my first listen and I really enjoyed it.
