heh, well that brings up another point. I can dig almost any band that can kick out a funky groove that makes asses shake, a la any given "jamband". Everytime BE would start to get in a groove they would end the song, I didn't understand. So they'd groove for like 7-10 seconds then end and everyone cheers. I'm like "what the hell are you cheering for". I didn't want to be a dick because my friends were really enjoying themselves. But damn man, come on, I need to dance and share in the universal groove and all that shit. so on the drive home, after listening to some Phil Collins to help me relax, I put on disc two of "the complete jack johnson sessions", and just listened to the drummer, and shit my pants the entire drive home. so awesome.

Random. Had a crappy day at work yesterday, got a call from friends on the way to New Orleans to see Bright Eyes, had extra ticket. I don't even like Bright Eyes, but I decided a lonely drive followed by some live music in a cool city would do me good on a Monday. Two opening bands, don't remember their names, second was okay. I was hoping seeing Connor Oberst live would help me "get it", but the music just doesn't do it for me. He's earnest enough in his performance: he comes across as a touch arrogant and vulnerable at the same time. But Bright Eyes just gives me that feeling that so much contemporary rock music does: that it has all been done before, and better. In light of my feelings about "new" rock, I've decided to start working on a list of "newer" bands (by "newer" I mean maybe bands that formed as early as the 90s, but maybe didn't "break out" until after the millenium, but this is a loose definition) whose music I actually enjoy. The label "rock" excludes any death/doom metal or electronic/synthpop/ebm/industrial, because there are a lot of bands in these genres making music today who I love. My list: LCD Soundsystem My Morning Jacket Thats all I've got so far. Maybe White Stripes.

I have heard good things about Denon carts, but they are MC if I'm reading that article correctly, and my phono stage is strictly MM. I'm looking for a cart with a higher output then the Stanton, and I think 440MLa fits the bill. I'll probably go ahead and order a 440MLa from the needle doctor and report back.

I can probably scrounge up a few 30-45 minute "Tweezer"s if you really want to test that attention span. or maybe you'd prefer "Simple". I hope you like that riff man, goddamn, because you are going to be hearing it for the better part of an hour.

k, going to go catch up on all the bullshit in the HF amp forum, see you all in a few days.

how do you people have time to read head-fi so much. i'm too busy waiting for people here to say something.

actually if that seat could be lain backwards, a man could lay on his stomach, if he enjoys **NSFW**, so technically it could be a great toy for a man as well.

ha! i could never spend that much on an amp. but vinyl has gripped me like nothing else in this hobby. if someone put a gun to my head today and made me buy a new table, I'd get a Rega, probably the new Rega P3 Mk24. Then once 909 sells me his Saturn because he is shelling out the big bux for the godly super high end godlike god source, I'll be all-rega, at least for CDs and vinyl. I like Rega because the emphasis is on simplicity. I think VPI's are teh super pretty, but seem much too complicated for an amateur like myself.

Anybody heard this cart? Rumor has it the 440MLa pairs well with the SL1200, and I'm thinking of picking one up not just for varieties sake, but also so I can get some practice adjusting cartridge alignment. http://www.needledoctor.com/Audio-Technica-440MLa-Cartridge?sc=9

haha, luckily the melos makes the RS-1 its bitch! haha! listening with flats, floyd "the wall". that bass hit at the beginning of "another brick in the wall pt 2" was PERFECT! ah, here come the chorus of children, bit of that rs-1 harshness, but thats okay. good to have both cans. but before its over with i've either got to buy some kab upgrades for this TT or buy a P3 or mmf-7. in the future of course.

The HP-2 is absolutely brutal on my SL1200. Does not like it at all! All my records have this cold, lifeless feel. Still plenty of depth and analog "bigness", but pretty bad lack of dynamics. The RS-1 is much more kind. Transparency can be a bitch sometimes I guess.
