  1. I never had a hum in my system until I setup an analog rig. How I fixed that was by plugging all my audio devices (turntable, phono, amps, CDP) into one surge protector going into one outlet. Against the other wall I plugged in all my computer stuff (computer, monitor, modem, etc) into another surge protector going into another outlet. Before I was mixing up my computer stuff and audio stuff, and this is what caused the humming. The humming is almost imperceptible now, even with no music and the volume cranked up to max. My hum was definitely the result of a ground loop, so this probably won't help you, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
  2. Actually Paul Wall isn't that bad as far as popular rappers go. He considers himself more of a rap fan who happens to rap then a straight rapper. His primary occupation is grill seller and installer, like on teeth. his music is typical down south h-town swishahouse dj screw sizzzurp.
  3. fuck it dog, cop this shit: fuck them otha fools, we'll be sittin' sideways in the parking lot, yEEAAAaaaHHH this shit loud as hell man, make yr car bump even w/ stock radio. gon be the shit man
  4. Hey, can someone explain to me in kind of layman's terms what makes the Beta 22 so awesome? When I say kind of layman's terms I mean I have a basic understanding of things like output impedance and wattage etc. I'm just not a DIY'er or anything, all I know is suddenly everyone is building these deuce deuces and saying they are the bee's knees.
  5. I chickened out on the new vinyl rig. The potential impending failure of my digital source, amongst other things, made me realize its time to cool out on the major source purchases for a bit. So it looks like I'll be getting one of these carts after all to replace the Stanton. I'll make this sl1200 sing yet, damn it.
  6. For some reason I want to grip the handlebars and ride this headphone stand up to the Tom Thumb to get some comics and gobstoppers.

  9. dude let me borrow your beta22 for a review for my new forum plz. thx.
  10. Yeah, I've got a Nitty Gritty that gets the job done. What cleaning solution/brushes do you use? I'm considering ordering some of the Disc Doctor brushes and cleaning solution.
  11. don't skimp on the hammer man. i know it sounds crazy, but you'll be glad if you spend the few extra bucks to get a decent hammer. and don't believe those fuckers at lowes, they are all brainwashed into thinking cheap hammers are okay for head hitting when they are not.
  12. Glad to hear you are a fan! It looks totally idiot proof. Seeing dust pile up on the stylus drove me insane, which is why I think I ended up dinging up the Stanton. I tried to do the ME thing on the toothpick, then I tried to use tweezers to pull the dusty hairs off the cantilever.
  13. buy some cheese, tortillas, and butter. get a pan and make quesadillas. make enough for everyone.
  14. The fact is that RS amps have the reputation outside of headphone forums as the amps to get. Over at the sh.tv, excited audiophiles just realizing they can get good sound from headphones always have "a Raptor on the way!" cos its got a tube in it
  15. Well, for my new analog rig I'll be going with the DV 10x5: Plus I'm getting the dealer to install and properly align it for me before he ships it. And I've ordered some Onzow Zerodust at a significant discount from a guy at the sh.tv forum who is from Tokyo. This will be the only way I'm going to clean my stylus. No more magic eraser for me!
  16. Just showed up today: stepped attenuator, four inputs, high/low gain switch First impressions: this thing is HUGE, and pretty heavy (18 lbs maybe). Usually when I see something online, it ends up being smaller in person. I honestly expected the Dynahi to be about the size of a PPX3 chassis, and its actually as wide as the Melos and a bit taller! I had a brief scare when I was trying to hook it up. The labels on the source selection knob on the front don't match up to the plugs on the back, so for a while I wasn't getting any sound. Now I have the ICs running into the DAC inputs, but my source selection knob is on tuner. Actually, the inputs on the back are labeled CD - DAC - AUX - TUNER, while the inputs on the front knob are labeled CD - DAC - TUNE - DVD. So right off the bat this amp feels pretty ghetto. But what matters most is sound, right? So let me give a listen with all my cans for a while here.
  17. My Sennheisers have this warning on them. Lots of headphone amp manufacturer manuals have this warning (I know Meier does for a fact).
  18. So when running a computer as source setup into an all-in-one amp + DAC, what is everyone's opinion on the best connection? I did USB to my Stello DA100, but always had the suspicion I might have been better off buying an Emu or equivalent soundcard with a decent optical transport, and even better, its own ASIO drivers. Any thoughts, opinions, irrefutable facts, or random profanities?

  20. Hmmm, looks like I'll have to have an L3000 room at next years head-case 2008 international meet. next year we are looking to have the meet somewhere in either the phillipines or north mississipi.
  21. Welcome to headcase!
  22. but OT, if you put a gun to my head and made me choose, i'd definitely go headroom. this is based on no actual experience spent with headroom products, since I have never heard them.
  23. sometimes when I want to goto the headroom site real quick, I accidentally type in www.headroom.com instead of www.headphone.com. Does anybody else do this? I've been too afraid to go past the first screen on the www.headroom.com site.
  24. wow, I didn't notice it in the hf thread, but those stands look almost exactly like my $200 gusdorf circuit city stand, except the wood is lighter.
  25. last I saw he was loving the woo. but i love the "wu"! "hey yo my rap styles swing like willie mays, my eyes purple haze, my solar razor burn through shades, my grenades raid the air waves cast this rap page, i glide like hovercrafts on the everglades" are you kidding me, how hot is that?! the rebel INS drops knowledge god.
