  1. Bought one, just got my shipping notice. Don't even know why, I love my note 2. I just like toys I guess.
  2. Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks (vinyl) great record, great sound. seeing them live Saturday at Voodoo Fest.
  3. Didn't know he had a new record! Listening now. Trombone Shorty is one of my favorites. Seen him live a handful of times and he never fails to blow my mind.

    New Puppy

I LOVE YOUR NEW DOG AND I LOVE HIS NAME I LOVE HIM! He looks so fluffy and awesome. It sounds like he's adapted really quickly to his new life. I think he's a smart one and will have no issues doing what mom says, you are really lucky with this one. Sorry to hear about his cough, its a bummer when your dog isn't feeling well. We just picked up a new dog last March, and when I saw your Watson, I knew my Wallace had to be Watson's trashy cousin that never made it out of Alabama:
  5. pretty cool, DAC as well. i like the feature list. DSD, sabre dac, etc.
  6. hello thank you for coming to heacase. ignore the others just a little good natured hazing ! I'm a bit of a superlux nut myself, i have them ALL. any of them will sound well with an proper amplification. in regards to least leakage, the ALL of them will not leak, they are vacuum pressurized so when i fill them with sound they do not spre please see attached for a picture of my budget recording studio tracking headphones collections::
  7. whatever i have is always the best. fuck everybody that isn't me.
  8. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapppyyyy biiiiiiiiiiiirrrtthhhhdddaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy! vicki!
  9. I keep missing your show, do you have any mixes up on soundcloud or anything I could check out?
  10. Picked up the Fidelio X1s. As stated above, I've been looking for headphones that sound great with EDM, meaning great bass response, but without the piercing highs that often accompany headphones described as "good for EDM". I didn't need headphones that were super duper accurate, but I didn't want them to be terribly inaccurate either. The X1s definitely fit the bill. Really fantastic bass impact on electronic music and rock music. With rock in particular, I get that over emphasized bass thump that I'm used to hearing from loud ass amplifiers at live shows. This is just what I wanted. The midrange is pretty damn awesome taboot. There is a bit of that pinchy upper midrange, but its not so bad it annoys me. When vocals hit that upper midrange level the "pinch" is most noticeable (think of the way pretty much any mid tier AT phone sounds, and you know that pinch I'm talking about). In fact sometimes the emphasized upper midrange can sound pretty sweet, like with electric guitars. Think of the Grado midrange but not quite as clear. Comfort wise these phones are top notch after some adjustments, even with my gigantic head. Phones with this kind of fitting mechanism are typically the bane of my audio existence. The first two phones I bought back in 2005 were the K701 and SR60. I've hated "one size fits all" self adjusting headband mechanisms ever since that K701, I just couldn't get the ear cups to comfortably fit over my ears. While the X1 uses a similar mechanism, since the headphone is a metal construction, I was able to easily squeeze the headband together and reshape it. The result is an obvious hard crease on the top of the headband, but now the cups sit comfortably over my ears. The earpad material is top notch, I have worn these headphones for two hours plus at a time (listening and studying for the cpa exam) with zero fatigue, either physically or audio wise. These are a warm, bassy, but remarkably balanced headphone. They are constructed beautifully for a sub $300 phone, hell they look like phones costing 2-3 times as much. I think when newcomers to the hobby not wanting to spend a ton of dough ask about a starter phone, this will be my new recommendation, so long as they aren't bothered by a heavy bass presence. This is the first budget phone I've really enjoyed in a long time. Kudos to Philips, and thank you Tyll for the review that ultimately put these on my head.
  11. I didn't believe you so I followed the link and now I have AIDS as well. confirmed.
  12. For me the giant phone craze is because I primarily use my phone for web browsing. That's been my primary use since I bought the original iPhone. It still blows my mind I can carry the world wide web around in my pocket. I'm not a big app guy, not a big gamer, not a big talker. I just like browsing the web. Thus my Note II. And reading books, which I found impossible to do on the smaller iPhone screen. I know some people are fine reading on it, but it hurt my eyes and head. I think Brent is correct on his analysis of current smartphone development. The past several years have seen innovation in leaps and bounds, mostly now the changes are smaller. The good news is there are a ton of quality choices out there for smartphone geeks.
  13. I've already mentioned this, but the Note II is the first portable device I've owned that doesn't start to get sluggish after 9 months or so. Sluggish might be too strong a word, but all my apple devices and my nexus 7 (old version) all got less snappy after I'd owned them for a while. The note II is still as zippy and fresh as the day I got it. I can't really think of anything in the note 3 that would make me buy it. I certainly don't want a bigger screen. I guess a better looking / easier to hold case would be nice? Like a Note II Active. But then anything adding bulk to this phone is a big no no, I quit using a case on it after a month of ownership.

Gets me excited that a new Nexus could be closer than Nov/Dec as expected, but we've seen so few solid rumors, hard to believe a release is imminent. Possibly they are lowering the price well in advance of the new release, in order to avoid the clamoring of "but I just bought the old phone a week ago at the same price". Looking hard at the new Nexus for the wife. I'm still loving my Note II.
  15. thanks y'all, been a great one so far.
  16. On the Jazzfest board we called them CFWs, or chatting fuck wits. I see a lot of live music and its always my number one complaint. I'm glad you confronted both CFWs, and glad they shut up. In other news, closing out summer tour next week with a trip to Denver to see three nights of Phish at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. I've never even been to Colorado, incredibly excited.

    The Wire

Not putting season 5 as your least favorite season, and not putting Omar anywhere in your top five, you are definitely going against the grain in terms of rating stuff from The Wire.
  18. Thanks for the link, just had a few laughs reading through his questions. Looks like great products, I don't have any need for any of them now, but I'll definitely remember this site in the future. My wallets always fall apart after a year or so, but I just bought a new one. When this one wears out I think I'll return to this guy.
  19. derek gonna kill it. have a blast, the bros are part of the rare breed to elder rock statesmen that still destroy crowds every night.

  22. I don't know anything about Jamba Juice but I've never found a commercial smoothie venture that does green, not even the vendors at hippie festivals. And Dinny or anyone else wanting to get into green smoothies I echo what others said about spinach, its the least offensive taste wise of all the greens. You can cram so much spinach into a smoothie and easily cover it with a piece or two of fruit. As an example, we were hanging out with some friends and their then 2-3 year old son. We filled the vitamix 75% with spinach, then did apple/orange/banana (my famous "Nothing Too Fancy" smoothie). We handed it to the kid and he sucked it down like it was a milkshake, loving it. He's a pretty awesome kid, given, but if the kid digs it an adult surely can. Kale on the other hand tastes like dirt, but its a taste I've definitely grown to appreciate. I think after many many kale smoothies my taste buds made the connection to my body, and since the kale makes me feel so good the taste buds have started sending good signals to the brain.
  23. The Replacements - Don't Tell a Soul finally got some more vinyl crates from Tonys Woodshop, so my collection is somewhat under control instead of being littered all around my office. Finding old gems now.
  24. What a sweet friend! No doubt she had a full and loving life with you and your family. So sorry for your loss.
  25. Damn, I just saw Clarke/Duke at Jazzfest in April! Phenomenal set. Rest in peace.
