  1. So is this the thread we talk about the new Boards of Canada album in? Because its awesome.
  2. years back i remember there were basically two popular options for hd6xx recables: the cardas cable and the stefan cable. and everyone regarded the stefan cable as the rolls royce of hd6xx cables. expensive, sure, but THE BEST. then came along that twisty flesh colored cable by that other company and it was the best.
  3. isn't stefan the home of the original overpriced HD580/6XX headphone replacement cable?
  4. well my shiny new HD800s are waiting for me to go home and listen to them. i've already cut up all my socks into tiny slivers to test them all for mod worthiness.

Friend of mine is always going on about this. I love Steven and will eventually get around to watching it. Glad to hear another positive review.
  6. I have that somewhere on the drobo, been ages since i listened to it. ryan is one of those artists i almost totally stopped listening to. i followed his career really closely until he left music. since he's come back i've had a harder time getting back into him. not his fault at all, i'm just not as crazy about the singer/songwriter stuff as I used to be. seems like my interests the past few years have skewed heavily towards electronic music of various types. i feel like its where the most exciting stuff musically is happening right now.
  7. happy birthday man!!

I love my intel SSD. Shit is fast and awesome.
  9. Ryan, does the headband extend out pretty far? I'm always worried about cans that don't fit my big head well. I love the sound of my Fidelio but despite my headband bending attempts, I can't quite get it to be 100% comfortable. Too much pressure on the top of my head. I've decided I pretty much need an adjustable headband for their to be any hope of a headphone being comfortable. The only "one size fits all" fitting mechanism that works for me is AT. I'm not super crazy about the sound of my W3000ANV but I've kept it around this long because its so damn comfortable.
  10. Damn that was fast! Looking forward to your impressions.
  11. happy birthday ken!

  13. Well I sit 9-10ft, and have been very happy with my 46" plasma. Tomorrow I should receive delivery of my 55", I'll let you know how it goes. I honestly would have gone 60" but sears was already out of stock, and I got scared I would miss out on the st60 series entirely.

  15. Noticed yesterday that Seiko recently added some SARB-like watches to its offerings, labelled SARG and SARX this time: http://www.seiyajapan.com/collections/seiko some really nice looking pieces there. I almost bought a SARB instead of CW, someday I'll pickup one of these Seikos. In particular I like the SARX015 and SARX017. SARX015: SARX017:
  16. Forgive me if this is being discussed elsewhere, but I think it merits its own thread. I know there are some panny plasma fans here. I've had my 47" plasma for maybe 5 years now, and have loved every minute of owning it. I heard a few weeks ago that manufacturing will cease on panny plasmas after the year (2013) is up. So I'm a little late bringing this news, as stock is already starting to run dry (amazon recently sold out of their ST60 series panny plasmas). The ST60 series has received rave reviews from... well everyone, you do the googling. Plenty of "best tv of 2013" type awards, and its not even the top of the line plasma, it just happens to be in the sweet spot price wise ($1350 for the 55", $1500 for the 60", don't remember what the 50" is priced at) I really don't even want a new TV, but with the threat of never being able to purchase a panny plasma again hanging over me, I just bought a 55" ST60 from Sears, to be delivered Christmas Eve. Sooooo if you ever wanted to buy a plasma, dew eet now before its too late.

    American Horror Story

I did not like the second season actually. Got way too ridiculous and boring in the second half. Season 3, on the other hand, has been pure fun. The new Orleans setting increases my enjoyment.
  18. removed due to inactivity?! headplace was the hottest headphone discussion forum on the internet. i hadn't logged on in two years because i was making a ham sandwich.
  19. Very nice, I love the original version of the C5!
  20. I love doing Top Five anything. The OP really made me think about albums I've listened to over and over and over, not just records I respect, not just records I know are seminal, but the albums that I just can't get enough of, that are just as fascinating to me now, if not moreso, than when I first heard them. 1. Phish - Live at MSG There is so much Phish to choose from, but this live recording seems have become what most phans recommend to those who are wondering what this whole Phish thing is about. And its also my most listened to Phish recording. So my most listened to recording, from the band I've seen the most live, and has had the biggest impact on my life. Gotta be #1. 2. Ween - The Pod Complete awful gibberish, or the most brilliantly ridiculous album ever recorded? The Pod was the first Ween album I heard outside of "Push the Lil Daisies" on an episode of Beavis and Butthead. Needless to say I was not impressed with either Ween experience, and it took me almost a decade before a close and very twisted friend of mine suggest I give Ween another shot. It was the beginning of a really dark musical journey, and slowly I worked my way back to The Pod. And I get it now. Its an astonishingly, stupefyingly amazing achievement. Every song on this album, even Pollo Asado, makes the hairs stand up on my arms and blood pump through my body. 3. Wu-Tang - Forever The pinnacle of alternative hip-hop, in my opinion. I almost put Ghostface's "Supreme Clientele" in its place, but Forever ultimately wins. Every stoner at my high school had this album, and I'm still shocked at how many of the lyrics I remember. It's a brutal, devastating record, perfect in its execution, an album full of massive egos that somehow all manage to give each other room to breathe. Production so unique, that even albums that were obviously inspired by it don't sound anything like it, if that makes any sense. 4. New Order - Substance Kind of cheating since its a collection, but this first disc is just hit after hit after hit. Sure, maybe a Joy Division record would be more appropriate in this spot, but out of all the New Order/Joy Division albums, Substance far and away has gotten more listens. This is dance music.
  21. is that the one with the black bracelet? that is a badass looking watch.
  22. i'll be careful. I do need to get a "beater" automatic, something I'm comfortable wearing at concerts, festivals, etc. Maybe a Seiko 5, Orient Mako, or even Seiko Monster.
  23. After months of research, I finally settled on my first automatic, really my first watch I've worn since I was in high school. Christopher Ward C5 Malvern Automatic MKII I went with CW because I like the internet only business model, have read great things about their customer service, great value, and of course I love the way the watch looks. Wanted my first watch to be a dress watch, and apparently black and silver has kind of become my thing. It measures 39mm across. CW straps are apparently made for people with humongous wrists. I have a smaller wrist, but even on the lowest setting its still a little loose, but I kind of like it that way. Might get another hole punched in it, but for the time being I'm happy. Next watch will probably be something more casual, possibly another CW (trident maybe), Hamilton Khaki Field, or Seiko SARB.
