  2. i kno, i know, itll be pretty loud. im tryin to blow out my neighborhood though, they fool heads call the cops on postjack just when im listening to my headphoens cos i shake the hole block. so when i get speakers ill run this whol city to the ground, rite yall. [/off] seriously leaning towards the onkyo, looks like a nice unit.
  3. i'm kind of torn here. i definitely want something done by ray, but the sherwood above does have one hundred watts in it, which no doubt would get loud as all hellfire. does ray do mods? maybe i could get him to mod it to get like 150 watts out of it so i can turn up the voulme dial a bit more.
  4. Lots of talk over at audio asylum about the [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-Integrated-Digital-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B000J0ORMS/ref=sr_1_30/102-2336702-8536937?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1176478823&sr=8-30]Onkyo A-9555[/ame]. Lots of folks seem to like it at its price point, and it supposedly got a good review in Stereophile this month.
  5. any recommendations/thoughts for solid state options? i'm of course furiously employing the audio asylum search engine and browsing audiogon, but I always appreciate a push in the right direction.
  6. well lets say like I never understood guys in college who put posters of hot chicks on their walls. naked women posters do not naked women attract. but actually jpak, thats a funny idea. Anyone have a pic of like a ripped stripper guy with headphones on I could use as an avatar?
  7. Not only do I love those bands, I also love supporting artists who record on analog equipment. Makes the vinyl sound that much better. Bright Eyes also does the analog thing, but I'm still trying to get into them.
  8. ack, tubes. good price though, seems to be well reviewed. the EH models of the KT88, 6sn7, and 12ax7 tubes this amp employs aren't that expensive.
  9. K, time to decide on an amp. Must be <$1000 or thereabouts. I'm think the NAD C 352. Any thoughts?
  10. Lawn.
  11. entourage is a very good show. To be honest I did stop watching somewhere around season two, because I finally could just no longer empathize with any of the characters. Shows and movies that celebrate hollywood just seem so... masturbatory. but my opinion doesn't change the fact that it is a superb show, and jeremy piven is one hell of a great actor. PCU FTW.
  12. If by "something", you mean LSD was invented at Sandoz Laboratories in Switzerland by one Dr. Albert Hofmann, then yes, you are correct.
  13. what drug has to be kept cold besides LSD? an eskimo with LSD stashed in the vents, fucking awesome.
  14. yeah, its like the best holiday ever.
  15. and we have come back OT, good job demdem.
  16. Wilco - Being There Wilco - A Ghost Is Born Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker vinylz. music direct labia day sale.
  17. Living where I live, every few years a hurricane comes through and knocks out the power for 1-3 weeks. You really do start to get used to falling asleep in a pool of your own sweat, but after you get used to it you get all crazy in your head. Like you sleep in sweat all night, get up and take a cold shower, and go to work and you're like, I don't know, crazy. I felt so insane in those weeks after Katrina, probably was the whole scene that contributed to it. Modern houses aren't built to take advantage of breezes, and this becomes a painful fact in southern alabama with no power in september. so far as temp I like it at around 74.
  18. Joy Division - Martin Hannett's Personal Mixes Joy Division - Warsaw +5 bonus tracks Joy Division - Let The Movie Begin (belgium CD of live tracks and rare interviews, including one spoken word by martin hannett, which by itself should be worth the price )
  19. I've been real curious about Alessandro and the MS2i in particular for a year now. When I saw one pop up for $225 I decided to go for it. If I don't like it I'll just mod it with some canary yellow diamonds and flip that shit for 5 times what I paid. its how we git rich.
  20. no shit? me too.
  21. I am grooving to this old Paul Van Dyk album, "Out There And Back" (to be fair, this isn't actually my old copy, I did own one in high school and lost it to the ravages of college, I picked up this copy from someone on HF), and am looking for some more trancey pulsating dreamy atmospheric beat and bass heavy music. I plugged Van Dyk into Pandora and Tiesto came up. I've noticed some of you posting Tiesto discs in the "listening to" thread. The album that came up on Pandora was "Nyana". Thanks!
  22. good to know. I never made any real judgment about his character, I just did the old budweiser hat = asshole equation. but I'll take your word he's a good guy.
  23. the only stand up I've seen live who had better stage presence and, in his own weird way, confidence was Mitch Hedberg, RIP.
  24. Honestly this guy's beer hat avatar always rubbed me the wrong way (look at me i cna drink beers in mah hat), but he is spot on the money with this post.
