  1. i got on a power trip earlier and locked it for no reason.
  2. too late! I already bought a mediorcre integrated. link
  3. I'm always bouncing back and forth between the same two hobbies, but I know you are more of a vintage collector, while I prefer moderns. I do have a Danitrio Raw Ebonite Mikado Eye Dropper with a stub nib I'm probably going to sell. The pen is HUGE, and the nib is HUGE. This pen eats the MB149 for breakfast. Its nib and filling mechanism make it completely impractical for everyday use, so I'm not sure why I bought it. The ebonite does smell amazing though. Funny, I just realized I usually shy away from "vintage" audio gear as well.
  4. Two weeks ago I would have been all over it, but I went for speakers instead. Keep in mind that with the new O2MKII on the horizon, cheap O2's might start popping up all over the place. Hirsch probably made a smart move selling them now as opposed to waiting a few months. Either way, one heck of a deal.
  5. Just placed an order for the demo 840a in black they had on the AA site. Looks like a fine unit, we'll see how it works out.
  6. you decided to start using arabian opium?
  7. I'm leaning towards the Cambridge, either 740a or 840a. The 840a has received lots of positive press. It also has XLR inputs.
  8. Earl, the Monarchy SM-70 Pro looks like a great amp, but it isn't an integrated, and since I won't have a preamp for another few months, I'm limiting my current choices to integrated units only. Both the Vincent and the Cambridge look nice, and I like Audio Advisor. I bought my record cleaning machine from them.
  9. onkyo is out. i am suspicious of its digital technology, I want the digital part to end when it leaves my CDP/DAC. keep it analog from there on out. plus there have been a few reports of issues of random sound cutouts.
  10. my bad dude, didn't mean to geek it up. :'( but i'm just so smart with this audio thang sometimes my shit just oozes, know what I mean?
  11. yea it should have given off more watts if it was that hot, thats just like basic algebra. sin/cos = heat/x, where x=watts and watts=power, power + heat = pure rock NRG.
  12. hot = more power so this is a given. i could incorporate a hot plate for delicious scrambled eggs while listening to Brahms on my Quads.
  13. no $3,000 amps!!
  14. i kno, i know, itll be pretty loud. im tryin to blow out my neighborhood though, they fool heads call the cops on postjack just when im listening to my headphoens cos i shake the hole block. so when i get speakers ill run this whol city to the ground, rite yall. [/off] seriously leaning towards the onkyo, looks like a nice unit.
  15. i'm kind of torn here. i definitely want something done by ray, but the sherwood above does have one hundred watts in it, which no doubt would get loud as all hellfire. does ray do mods? maybe i could get him to mod it to get like 150 watts out of it so i can turn up the voulme dial a bit more.
  16. Lots of talk over at audio asylum about the [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-Integrated-Digital-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B000J0ORMS/ref=sr_1_30/102-2336702-8536937?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1176478823&sr=8-30]Onkyo A-9555[/ame]. Lots of folks seem to like it at its price point, and it supposedly got a good review in Stereophile this month.
  17. any recommendations/thoughts for solid state options? i'm of course furiously employing the audio asylum search engine and browsing audiogon, but I always appreciate a push in the right direction.
  18. well lets say like I never understood guys in college who put posters of hot chicks on their walls. naked women posters do not naked women attract. but actually jpak, thats a funny idea. Anyone have a pic of like a ripped stripper guy with headphones on I could use as an avatar?
  19. Not only do I love those bands, I also love supporting artists who record on analog equipment. Makes the vinyl sound that much better. Bright Eyes also does the analog thing, but I'm still trying to get into them.
  20. ack, tubes. good price though, seems to be well reviewed. the EH models of the KT88, 6sn7, and 12ax7 tubes this amp employs aren't that expensive.
  21. K, time to decide on an amp. Must be <$1000 or thereabouts. I'm think the NAD C 352. Any thoughts?
  22. Lawn.
  23. entourage is a very good show. To be honest I did stop watching somewhere around season two, because I finally could just no longer empathize with any of the characters. Shows and movies that celebrate hollywood just seem so... masturbatory. but my opinion doesn't change the fact that it is a superb show, and jeremy piven is one hell of a great actor. PCU FTW.
