forgive the ignorant question, but lets say one ordered a pico with usb dac. Could the DAC be bypassed to be used only as an amp? i.e. using an iPod or other DAP. I'm thinking this would be great to carry around with a laptop and some IEMs at coffeeshops and what have you, but also great to be able to use an iPod with if one doesn't want to lug around a laptop.

Since I only have 5 gigs left on my internal drive, I bought an external: Seagate FreeAgent 500GB I like that it turns on and off automatically with the computer. I have to flip enough switches as it is everytime I sit in front of the computer (CPU, Monitor, cdp, integrated amp, headphone amp, unmute button on phono stage, turntable).

j, what kind of amp are you building? Are you doing it yourself or are you having someone else do it? Are you putting any black gates in it?

I see that quote describes them as "potent" and "virile". Honestly I prefer my amplification to be "full", "meaty", and "long-lasting".

The difference is the W5000 headband is made of metal, while the Senn is plasticke. The key to loosening the Senn headband is steady pressure over a long period. Stretching over a row of books overnight does the trick for me, though this results in chipped paint in the center of the headband on the HD650.
