  2. so i ordered the e4rp from headroom last night. huzzah, looks like I might get into IEMs. I owned the iM716 briefly in my early headphone career. I liked it but sold it to finance something else which I sold to finance something.

  5. yeah, fuck them anyway. the future is NOW.
  6. this should read buy an er4p. If a mod feels like changing this so that future headcasers aren't confused by my mistake, feel free.
  7. you have to drill a hole in the bottom there.
  8. yeah, I figured just buy an er4s tranny prostitute, and if I want to try the amp thing get a p>s cable later. editted per request
  9. Now I feel like an ass for crapping in jinp's thread, because I'm thinking about picking up a pair of ER-4Ps. For listening to out of a portable source (currently 1g shuffle) when I'm at the coffee shop reading. The price point and sound signature are attractive. Primarily I'd be listening to jazz/classical, maybe some electronic instrumental (I have a hard time reading when listening to anything with vocals).
  10. is he still evil?

  13. I haven't watched this weeks, but I loved the Daryl and Kelly thing last week. "why don't you get back out there and sell reams, like a man."

  18. ack, and I just responded to your PM! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, Thursday is a long day, what with work and then class afterwards across town. Grats on the player! Its a great unit, I'm pleased as punch with mine.
  19. I got this in yesterday since newegg is superfast. Great drive so far, even the box is great, it has lots of little cool sentences all over it, very hip. The unit looks great, too, with a nice yellow/orange light strip down the side that lights up when its on. Not to bright, just subtle enough to look nice. It does turn on and off with the computer just fine, which is good since its the main reason I bought it. I copied all my FLAC rips to it last night, music plays from it just fine. We'll see how it stands the test of time, but it does come with a 5 year warranty, which I think is pretty damn good for hardware.
  20. I had a subway ham sub. I got oil and vinegar on it, that was a bad move. Better with just mayo or honey mustard.
  21. Thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to pick that up! A few folks over at the Hoffman forums said it was the best out of all the versions. Still not great, but better then the others. I'll have to snag me a copy somewhere.
  22. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals / Saenger Theatre / Mobile, AL This was my first time seeing Ryan Adams, and him and the band put on a great show. It was WAY jammier then I thought it would be. They came out and a did a 30 minute non stop threefer to open, one song right into another. Just about every song he stretched out into a bizarre sonic jam, he is definitely going through a Grateful Dead phase. His noodly guitar tones make him sound like Jerry Jr., and I of course absolutely loved it, though one of my friends described it as "excruciating" . Jamming aside, the song playing was super tight, the whole band was spot on. Apparently Ryan has had a number of meltdowns this tour. In Texas he stormed off stage during the encore because something was wrong with the monitors. In Birmingham, the fans wouldn't stop screaming out song requests, so he cut the set short and walked off stage, and so the fans egged his bus. So in Mobile, things were getting a bit tense when a few drunkies were screaming out songs they wanted to hear, much to the chagrin of other fans shushing them and screaming "shut the fuck up". Finally some girl in the balcony screamed "ryan please play Wonderwall, please Ryan!!" (and yes he does do a fucking fantastic version of that song), and that pushed Ryan over the edge. I'll paraphrase his little lecture he gave the crowd: "Ohh, looks like its going to be one of those nights. Definitely just one set tonight. You know, people spend so much time predetermining the show, that once they get to the fucking show they forget to listen to the show. You're like fucking bingo players, and you've got your chip and you are just waiting, just waiting for your number to be called out, and your waiting so long that you forget to actually enjoy the concert. Well I don't think art works that way. <pause while he calmed down> Having said that, we do come bearing gifts! And if you just sit back and relax, they will open unto you like a beautiful fucking vaginal flower." Yes, a beautiful fucking vaginal flower. I just about shit. But he did play a full set for a good two hours. Right after he ended the last song in set I, he went on "This is the part where we all pretend to go backstage and you all cheer then we come back out and play the encore." But instead of going backstage the whole band laid down in a big pile in the middle of the stage while everyone cheered. Then they got up and played the encore, which was about another half hour. Bottom line they really turned it out. My respect for Ryan Adams and especially the Cardinals has definitely increased. If I could quit my job and just follow them around the country I would.
  23. Sounds good. I thought "Playing The Angel" had some superb songs on it. The mastering was wretched though, and the SACD wasn't too much better.
