There is some validity to this, especially when it comes to turntables, which can be a pain in the ass to setup, as well as a pain in the ass to ship if you decide to sell. On the other hand, sometimes its just nice to get a brand new pretty, even if it isn't a huge upgrade.

Do you have any motor noise problems with the MMF-5? I've read a few complaints in this regard about that table. Others complain about the Pro-Ject tonearm and tracking troubles. The P3 2000 with upgraded PSU would probably be an upgrade, but at that point I'd probably just spring for the P5 and add the PSU later if finances didn't permit. It is a snazzy looking table. tyrion: I'm sure the table is a beast, I'm just being nit picky.

GRANT INC, vinyl anachronist, and TONEPUB are Gandymen. Seriously, not that I'm saying that the RB250 is a bad arm, but on a $2000 TT i'd at least want an RB300. I've been doing the PJ dance and waffling all over the place for my 2008 Analog Extravaganza. Just yesterday I was thinking VPI, the day before that Pro-Ject, the day before that SOTA, and today its a KAB upgraded SL-1210M5G. Then I want to get an Origin Live Armboard, cut up my SL-1200MK2, and put an RB300 on it. I'd need to figure out where I'm going to put these turntables though, I definitely need better isolation then my rickety Circuit City rack. Look how sweet it looks though.

IMO the MS2i is a winner at its price point. If you like a nice bass sound with a sweet midrange and kind of rolled off highs, you'll love it.

Caine Black Knife is the title IIRC. It just came to me. Such a badass name, there is no way the book won't be amazing. Caine is like, the ultimate badass.

nope, the pair was fine. I stand by my impressions posted in the "there's something disturbing about ultrasone" thread. the phone has strengths (bass, soundstage, comfort) and weaknesses (icy midrange, wacky treble, colored tonality).

Yup, this is definitely the problem. When I am more careful, none of this tangle exists. I was just listening to my Lambdas and thought it was funny that the cable was weighed down by the weight of other XLR terminated cables on top of it, so I snapped a photo.

Very cool, and reasonably priced when in print. This is definitely a company I will follow for a long time to come. I was pretty excited to get Altar on black vinyl. still haven't listened to it though. since I prewash all my vinyl before the first listen, its hard to get motivated to put on a new record when I could just spin Monk's Music for the sixth time.

the southern lord web site just has tons of vinyl I just want to throw my paycheck at. $17.77 for Pink on pink vinyl is too much for my little heart to take. I might buy the red vinyl just for the hell of it.
