Hey Stax Fans-
Currently I'm using an SRD-7/Pro with a Cambridge Audio 840A to power my OII, and obviously I'm quite thrilled with the combination. I can tell, however, that at higher volumes, the OII's performance starts to level out, and I know that it could get better with more power.
The only 'stat amp I could ever conceivably afford is a Headamp KGSS. Are there significant benefits with going with a dedicated KGSS as opposed to using a speaker amp with an adapter? Or is it more different shades of the same color?
only one we have to remember is SR-007.
Omega update: these headphones still kick ass. incredibly transparent. amazing with digital, even better with vinyl. Listened to the Classic Records 200g pressing of Alan Parsons' I Robot the past two nights before I went to bed, using the Denon DL-103 MC cart. Just a ridiculous music experience. The drums when "Don't Let It Show" kicks into high gear are insane.
actually it is kind of fun testing the skin density of newbies. maybe a newbie forum isn't the best idea.
i see we had one this morning for about 10 minutes, then it disappeared.
Logically, just a simple sticky should be enough for new member introductions. But keep in mind these are new head-casers we are talking about. The lowest of the low, at least in regards to mental capacity. They might require a big forum title to jump out at them.
can opener from bed bath and beyond. I have one of those smooth edge can openers, but I needed a regular one specifically for opening tuna. the smooth edge one makes the lid too big, so its hard to drain.
Hell, I feel foolish when I even bother opening last.fm, especially when it starts messing with my ASIO settings, and I have to close it, reopen foobar/winamp, then reopen it, but damnit, I want my audio statistics recorded and made available on the internet for all to see!
Just a thought that popped into my head that I wanted to throw out there before I did any deep thinking on it.
We get onto new headcasers a lot because they suck. Other forums I frequent have a "new members" forum where newbies can go to introduce themself, or make their forum debut. You know, "New Members", with the subtitle, "Introduce yourself here", something like that. Might help us become aquainted with newer members a little bit, and maybe get used to their smell as well.
Any thoughts?
I'm still trying to get last.fm to work with vinyl. "analog scrobbler"
hey so the GF was playing me that "the sounds" album this weekend, its pretty much tight as hell son. i love the shameless use of synthesizers, so badass.
Oh wow, the stax stands compress the pads? Thats bad. Bad stax!!
Steve, I might end up sending you an email then, see if you can do a similar, simple stand that doesn't compress the pads.
back on topic, I'm trying to find a way to stomach buying a Stax headphone stand for my OII. I already have the nifty little plastic cover, I want to complete the package.
Smeg, I have to assume he bypassed the switch, I won't really know until I hook it up. Hopefully it will act as a "mute" switch, because thats come in handy when I need to mute the sound from my Stax and just use my monitors, which run from the 840A's preamp.
Of course I'll keep you in mind when I decide to sell one of these.
