  1. This was the first thing I thought, is what type of error correction does the Ripserver use?
  2. As long as I am around, I'll do my part to insure that headcase reminds a big dog picture friendly community.
  3. who's my buddy??!!
  4. We are still many weeks away from the final product, but I'm pretty excited to be purchasing my first nice headphone stand. Its going to be for my black and silver OII. Steve said he'll use wenge and asian satinwood, which I think will look downright snazzy with the OII. It'll be a hanging type design, small enough to still be used with the Stax SPC-1 protective cover.
  5. Headphone stand from S squared audio.
  6. I wasn't, what was it? Taters, Iodine, and Offal?
  7. I voted for McCain in the Alabama primary instead of Obama because I disliked Romney and Huckabee so much. Just so long as we don't get one of "those republicans" in the White House I'll be pretty happy.
  8. One man's lack of backbone is another man's political savvy. I admit McCain's backpedalling on the taxcuts (first they were bad, now they are good) is a turnoff to me as well, but McCain has always been a staunch critic of the Rumsfeld Iraq strategy. This is absolutely true, and another strong reason to vote for a Democrat in the Fall.
  9. Also, I say when we get to the top, we all sync up "High Enough" by Damn Yankees on our rigs and listen at the same time.
  10. OK, looks like we have enough interest to get together a group to climb Mt. Everest. Time to agree on a date. I'm pretty much free every weekend for the next month, but my primary concern is what portable rigs everyone will be bringing. I'm not sure whether to do a laptop/pico thing or just a simpler ipod line out based setup.
  11. Thanks for your offer spritzer, but as long as its not affecting the sound and I'm not electrocuting myself, I'm not going to worry about it. In other Stax news, I finally ordered some speaker wire so I can hook up my SRD-7MK2. If the reader recalls, this is the modded model I bought a few weeks back with the stock speaker wire removed. It hooks up via the speaker outs on the back, which are now speaker ins. I've been using an SRD-7/Pro up until this point, which has two pro bias outs instead of one pro and one normal. Sounds great with my OII, but I've been missing my Lambda.
  12. I've been a longer time fan of McCain then any of the other candidates, since he basically is an honest man. I like that he is a conservative without being an idealouge or a slave to social conversativism and evangelicals. The absolute biggest turn off to me about the modern republican party is candidates who drape themselves in the Shroud of Turin like Bush did. Having said that, I think the only reason McCain is getting the establishment nod is because the Republicans know this is their year to lose, so they might as well let McCain take the hit. After Clinton's Texas and Oklahoma primary wins, I'm back to thinking she'll get the nomination, and after her comments on one of the morning shows today, I'm again hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket. Yes I said I like John McCain but I dislike Republicans more, so as it stands right now I'll vote for a Democrat in the Fall.
  13. This is a full song, therefore against the rules, but its so short its worth sharing the whole thing. Artist: Wilco Album: Being There Song: Red Eyed And Blue "We've got solid-state technology, Tapes on the floor, Some songs we can't afford to play When we came here today All I wanted to say Is how much I miss you Alcohol and cotton balls And some drugs We can afford on the way When we came here today We all felt something true Now I'm red-eyed and blue"
  14. I really enjoy reading this thread, its a great idea thrice. Artist: Wilco Album: Summerteeth Song: Via Chicago "I dreamed about killing you again last night And it felt alright to me Dying on the banks of Embarcadero skies I sat and watched you bleed Buried you alive in a fireworks display Raining down on me Your cold, hot blood Ran away from me to the sea"
  15. I've never gotten shocked, per se, but the other night while listening to some Lionel Richie on the Lambdas I did pee my pants and forget my name for about a half hour. Thanks for the help Spritzer, I'll just enjoy the music and not worry about the grill.
  16. Hey Stax Fans- I was looking at my SR-Lambda the other day, and noticed that the mesh grill on the inside of the right cup has a slight inward bump, and appears to actually be touching the gold surface underneath it (is this the driver itself, or some kind of driver covering?). This appears to have no audible effect on the sound at all, I'm just wondering if its something I should be concerned about.
  17. give me money
  18. goddamnit!
  19. Wow, a lot of whining going on in this thread. Somebody call the waaaaambulance, stat.
  20. Wow, thats crazy. I'm glad I jumped on it when I did. "I can always sell it later" is the best justification for buying spendy limited edition vinyl box sets. Even if it was recorded digitally, I agree with deepak that DDA's still sound better then their DDD counterparts. A great example of this is The Knife on vinyl. Holy cow that record sounds amazing on wax.
  21. I've also had good results from ebayer "goahead bob". Just bought a copy of Thom Yorke's "Eraser" from him, and I bought another vinyl from him a couple weeks ago. I can't remember. But it was in good condition and shipped quickly.
  22. Wilco 3/3/08 Mobile, AL - Mobile Civic Center Theatre You Are My Face, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Shot In The Arm, ?, Handshake Drugs, Pot Kettle Black, (back to me? slow acoustic number), Airline To Heaven, California Stars, War On War, Jesus Etc, Impossible Germany, Wishful Thinking, Pick Up The Change, What Light, (some bside), Hummingbird, Via Chicago, (cherry ghost?), Walken, I'm The Man Who Loves You Encore: Kingpin, Heavy Metal Drummer, Box Full Of Letters, Passenger Side, Hate It Here, Monday > Outtasite Outtamind
  23. Acoustic Sounds is my favorite, but both of the above are great as well. What sets Acoustic Sounds apart are the insane shipping boxes, which are thick and very tough. The Steve Hoffman classifieds are a great place to buy vinyl from reputable audiophiles, though the market is much more saturated with CDs then vinyl. I've had extremely limited success on eBay. Most eBay sellers way overrate the vinyls condition. $40 for 15 LPs seems like a great deal until you actually listen to them, and they all sound like de-grooved shit. Geoman, a popular name around the Hoffman forum, has his own site setup called Plymouth Rock Music. He is the fucking man. A lot of his vinyl right now is WAY overpriced though. He knows it, but I think he just gets so exhausted shipping out vinyl that sometimes he just jacks the price up so no one will buy. Here's his eBay store, where the prices are typically better. Its empty right now.
  24. Here's a picture of Trent from the recent "Ghosts" session:
  25. I never understand any of Dusty's custom titles. :'(
