Nah, I'm not sure if its really completely screwupable. I could be wrong of course, I'm new to this bending thing.

slwiser, I don't really have the patience to wade through the HFI-780 thread, so I was wondering if you could help a lazy man out and tell me how the bass on the HFI-780 compares to the ED9. Also, is the fitting mechanism the same? I really enjoyed the fit of the ED9.

Absolutely! And unfortunately this is something that people won't do in a meet setting. At least I know I wouldn't want anybody messing with the arcs on my SR-007 at a meet. Having said that, they are actually quite malleable, and easy to bend back into the original shape if need be.

Very interesting! I thought the hardware would cost much less. Maybe these low profit margins are why Apple's stock is dropping despite the iPhone's success? Or maybe its just because the market sucks.

Hey Stax Fans- Last night I did some more bending of my OIIs headband, but this time it was some serious bending. As I've said countless times, I have a big head, and while the OII was comfy before, now that I've really bent them so I can get the cups way down over my ears, they are super comfy. I also now am appreciating the pads more in spritzer/duggeh style, with fat part of the pad behind and a bit below the ear, with the crease more on line with the eye. This creates a great seal and amazing bass. Listening to Sgt. Peppers on vinyl last night, I'd never heard such clear and full bass guitar before. Then I put on Downward Spiral and rocked my ass off. March of the Pigs was crazy insane chaos in my head, and the bass line in Closer was simply amazing. Later, when I was listening to Meshuggah and Ministry, I realized why it is the OII does metal so well, despite its "laid back" sound signature. To borrow a line from Carville, "its the midrange, stupid!" It replicates the crunch of electric guitar better then any can I've heard. This same midrange magic does wonders for vocals of all kinds, which sound so beautiful they put me in a drooling stupor.

same setup i ran for a while, except an 840A in place of the Denon.

ah pete roc. for what probably won't be the last time in my life i've been outrocksnobbed by someone a decade my junior. touche chuck, touche.

Here's another cross generational classic comparison: DSOTM vs. OKC. spent plenty of time in high school philosophizing over the relative merits of these two.

i fail to see the melodiousness of any previous hip hop artist. eric b. is a legend, for sure, but his beats were still just as stilted, wooden, and robotic as grandmaster flash's or nwa's. and don't even get me started on krs-one or bdp. and then suddenly the hip hop world is smacked upside the head with the damn near narcotic flow of "nuthin' but a g thang"...

I requested "I Must Be High" but they didn't play it. However, my friend requested "Box Full Of Letters", so we were happy to hear that one. Tweedy is so amazing, I'm glad he is healthy and in good spirits, because I'm looking forward to many more decades of incredible music from him. And I'd heard that "Impossible Germany" totally brings down the fucking house, but I didn't realize how amazing it really is live until I saw it. That composed guitar jam is ridiculous.

dude, it was a gnarly show, and loud as hell to boot. I posted the full setlist in the "last concert you attended" thread in the music subforum, but highlights included a stunning "Via Chicago", some favorites from A.M. including "Pick Up The Change" and "Box Full Of Letters", and a mind blowing encore closer of "Monday" -> "Outtasite (outtamind)".

update: i still love my iphone. i used the notes feature to record the setlist at the Wilco concert on Monday. Truly we are living in a digital age.

Wow, your professor is awesome, those are two albums that would be cool to compare. Illmatic and Nevermind would also be damn good, as both albums represent their generation so well but in wildly different ways. Talk about two artists who knew their audience!
-
Comparing "The Chronic" with an early rap classic like "Paid In Full" would be amazing. Remember that Dre injected melody into hip hop, which is why he is a fucking legend.

can i put a NOS tube in it?
