I don't know anything about the cart in question, but is it possible you have an impedance mismatch with your phono stage? This could cause the excessive brightness you are hearing.

I just placed an order for two cherry units, finished. I didn't realize that shipping was included in the price. $100 even. I can't believe I almost bought a $400 Boltz rack.

No kidding! Really quite a steal. His racks are spoken highly of by a few on sh.tv. I also like that he offers base units to stablize the storage units, and top racks to provide shelf space on top.

I'll probably be ordering some wooden LP racks from http://www.tonyswoodshop.com/. They are half the price of TTVJ's maple LP racks. Tony offers oak or cherry (or mixed hardwood) racks. Is there any structural reason I should choose one wood over the other, or is this purely a cosmetic choice? And if it is purely cosmetic, which wood do you think is prettier?

Don't forget the Nitty Gritty Record Doctor III, an Audio Advisor exclusive. $140 more then the KAB, but you don't have to hook up your own vacuum. I use the Record Doctor III with Disc Doctor brushes and Quik Wash fluid with great results, though it worked well with the included brush and Nitty Gritty fluid as well.
