  1. Hey deepak, how about a fully loaded KAB SL-121M5GSE? Just wait and see, curved tonearms and detachable headshells will make a comeback.
  2. Tom, I think Stephen wanted to keep this to jazz albums.
  3. Good news everyone! I got in my Cinemag SUT, and I also found a box of old Melos tubes in the top of my closet. I rolled in some Bugle Boys and am loving the synergy between these components. Very, very rich and lush, I haven't heard sound this lush in my system in some time. Maybe even too lush, but at least for the time being its fun, like rich chocolate icing over yellow cake before the tummy ache begins. The entire soundstage still manages to be surprisingly aggressive and upfront, whether I am listening with the 22Ls or 12LAs, and there is not even a hint of the DL-103's brightness. I definitely love this cart, SUT, and phono. Lots of good stuff in my rack these days. More listening to do.
  4. lol. actually there was a super cheapie one at wal-mart that did OK. i've tried tons of those and none of them worked well except that cheapie wal mart one. can't remember what it was called. even it sucked though really.
  5. right click, save as reksy.jpg
  6. Nah, I think the K701 actually do do lack bass.
  7. Funny, I was just coming here to say the same thing. Great deals!
  8. i don't get much of a thrill out of chasing down spendy NOS tubes. i did that for a while last spring and ended up feeling like a sucker-turd for doing so.
  9. Got in the Seduction today. No SUT until at least thursday, so I swapped out headshells (once again, Technics for the win. I love having multiple carts on hand, prealigned for quick install) and went from the DL-103 to the AT440MLa so I could go ahead and give the Seduction a listen. Wide open, warm sound, lifelike midrange, very detailed without being too neutral or boring. The brightness of the AT440MLa is greatly reduced, which is a surprise. While I have always respected this cart, I am seeing now that it scales remarkably well with a better phono. My one complaint at this point is the bass is a little muddy and lacking definition. When the midbass punch is nice, its real nice, but so far its not always nice. Looking forward to seeing out the cinemag + DL-103 combo fares with the Bottlehead.
  10. The HD600 is basically an HD580 with metal grills and supposedly slightly better matched drivers (both phones use the same drivers). I owned both and can't claim to have heard much of a difference between the two.
  11. Funny, I thought I meant Cisco. guzziguy, its also available at musicdirect and elusive disc and any other vinyl store worth its salt. FWIW the Acoustic Sounds paper catalog is the best catalog ever in history. I get very excited when one shows up in my mailbox.
  12. Hehe, I forgot you sold your vinyl rig. I guess my warning was unneeded. ME has become a popular budget stylus cleaner. Some people swear by it.
  13. Interesting! Southern Lord FTW! I also have Rollins Band Weight on clear vinyl, and it rocks the fuck out.
  14. Many audiophiles have had great success with ME, but this audiophile fucked up a cartridge bad with it. Luckily it was a shit cartridge, but just thought I'd offer a word of caution. I coughed up the $40 for the Onzow and have been very happy.
  15. Cisco is shutting down operations, which means Kevin Gray's Aja is going out of print. IMO this pressing/mastering is as perfect an audiophile recording as one can get. And the musics not to bad either. hop on it: http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_detail.cfm?title_ID=39750
  16. a Cinemag SUT to accompany my incoming Bottlehead Seduction.
  17. also in my experience, clear vinyl sounds badass.
  18. in my experience, sometimes colored vinyl sounds awful compared to their black counterparts. only sometimes though.
  19. Artist: Ween Album: White Pepper Song: She's Your Baby Janey came back from the stand, Smiling, With the writing of Kafka in hand, And a bunny in a can, Slipping and sliding, You feel yourself asking her, Why would you want me to try? Squeezing your wrist and she's pulling you closer, Down where the devils are dying with laughter, Then led to a place where there's no form of pleasure, She blows you a kiss from her lips...
  20. i concur. also i could make a weed joke about the above quote but I'll hold back.
  21. the HP-1 is king, but at their respective price points, I'll take the RS-1 over it anyday.
  22. wow. reminds me of how I felt after reading Burroughs, except dirtier.
