  3. Paging penguin, paging penguin. I want it to match my beta22. Thx.
  4. We seem to be losing a lot of great ones this summer. RIP George, who to me was like the Chomsky of standup. my personal favorite of his is his advice on how to raise kids: "leave them the fuck alone."
  5. yup i'm going to see him. mobile, al, july 2nd. 22nd row back, left orchestra aisle seat. Should be a nice view.
  6. Welcome to head-case Bob! glad to have ya!
  7. ghost is my favorite phish album. It doesn't have my favorite songs or performances on it, but as a whole its their best studio effort. Lawn Boy and Junta and PoN might have better songs, but the performances are blech, like the first GD album they are all messy.
  8. 1. Fry bacon. This particular bacon is uncured (no nitrites) 2. Put three eggs, some tony's, and tabasco in a cup. whip 'em with a fork. 3. cut up 1/3rd of a purple onion, fry in the bacon grease. 4. make an omelet with cheese and the fried onions. 5. ... 6. profit!
  9. beautiful puppy!
  10. david123 sent me a couple emails as well about JPS interconnects. mmmmmm this french press coffee is delicious. also nate's cables kick ass, i'm finally using them.
  11. for iphone users: Over 30000 books to read on your iPhone. Free.. The week before last I read Kafka's "Metamorphosis" and Vonneguts "Cats Cradle" in their entirety, for free, on my phone.
  12. Phish - Story Of The Ghost (vinyl)
  13. Excellent point. Pulling this out of my ass but I think the 840C has an output of something like 4.4mv from the XLR.
  14. Good question, thats something I wanted to touch on. Its set for a gain of 2/4. I was worried this wouldn't be enough to power higher impedance phones like Senns, but with my HD650 it gives me plenty of volume swing. Only a crazy person would max out the volume knob on Senns with this gain. I imagine with a power hungry phone like the K340 one would want to step up the gain to the next level, but for my purposes 2/4 is perfect.
  15. Dusty is correct, there is an orange LED on the power supply, which is on the shelf below the amp proper, and there is orange inside the amp as well. 909, they are 24 step DACTs.
  16. Right now I'm using an HD650 with Enigma Oracle cable. In a word, the amp sounds marvelous, easily exceeding my expectations. Smooth, detailed, powerful. Really brings out the sometimes hazy midrange of the HD650. Huge midrange, startlingly focused "center channel" (like the way vocals often are in the mix). One of the first things I thought upon hearing the amp is how amazing it would sound with a balanced HP2. Of course it helps I heard a balanced beta22 with a balanced HP2 at Canjam. I listened with my HF-1 single ended and it sounded great as well.
  17. pfft. Listen to the song "painkiller" and tell me he can't wail.
  18. I ordered a factory oc'd bfg 8800GT this morning. I guess its performance will tell me if I need a new PSU.
  19. damn new priest. Anyone know if Rob Halford can still sing?
  20. The big complaint I always here is that its bright and thin. I'd love to hear one myself someday to decide.
  21. tkam to the rescue. I misread the post on the Age Of Conan forums. 750W is only for running 2 8800GT in dual SLI.
  22. bad news. Opened my case this afternoon and couldn't get anything off the damn power supply. I guess I could have pulled it all the way out but I wasn't feeling that adventurous, but it really just looked like smooth shiny silver all the way around. The brand is Silent Engine, and I got a serial number, but couldn't get a match off the manufacturers website. Google also turned up nothing. My bios gave me these readings: Vcore voltage: 1.34v 3.3v voltage: 3.29v 5v voltage: 4.91v 12v voltage: 11.71v I don't know what any of that means. Regardless, I've read the 8800GT cards work best with a 750w power supply. I feel fairly confident that this gaming machine purchased a year and a half ago would not have such a power supply. So I'll probably end up buying this one. Thoughts?
