  1. I've been telling my girlfriend I'm "kind of a big deal on the internet" for months now. Time to pickup a copy of Stereophile to show her the hard proof...
  2. woke up, had some coffee and breakfast, went to work, read some Cryptonomicon, went to store, came home, dinner, laundry.
  3. well this sucks.
  4. lots of great ideas in this thread. enjoy that desktop setup Dan, it sounded sweet at canjam.
  5. i must have as well, because my iPhone has worked splendid since 2.0. and the new games are the shiiiiit nasty. jirbo brick breaker wins all day.
  6. question about these errors that may occur when using a non-EAC, non-max type ripper. I've always wondered, are they audible? I mean is it like a sound stutter or a bleep? Since I got into audio I have used EAC, but back in my pre-audiophile days I ripped everything with iTunes, and can never recall hearing an audible error in the rip. Having said that, EAC can definitely ripped scratched CDs much better then iTunes, but still I'm curious about what kind of errors we are talking about.

  8. so in addition to being a great file converter, is max also the eac of the mac world?

  10. Maybe I just need to be more patient then, & let the page load. Not a 2.0 thing for me, I've had the problem since I bought the phone in January. I think it happens not only when a page is loading, but also when I stop the page from loading (X) before it's finished.
  11. does anyone else have the issue on their iphone where the typing is r e a l s l o w on web pages like headcase? It makes posting even the shortest messages unbearable.
  12. looks promising. I vote you try it later today when your MBP arrives.

  14. sweet. grats JB! but can iTunes even do FLAC? I was wondering if I was going to have to convert my whole library to ALAC.

  16. Just thought I'd get a pulse on how Mac fans handle their digital music libraries. For example, do you ALAC + iTunes, or do you FLAC + some heretofore unknown program to postjack, or do you bypass all of that with a Squeezebox, etc. Currently on the PC I'm finding the Squeezebox to be the best thing since peanut butter since I don't have to screw with clunky buggy slow foobar (just my experience) or ASIO. Its my understanding that Macs don't need ASIO because Core Audio > kmixer, is this correct?

  18. so I've been in the market for a new laptop for, well since my last one went kaput several months ago. I'm thinking this new Macbook might be just the ticket, if it is indeed a keyboarded Macbook in an aluminum case. If its some lame touch tablet I'll just get a discounted refurb blackbook after the announcement.
  19. you mean until they ah cut off said individual's internet access ah ah.
  20. I agree with the above statement 100%. The recording/mastering/pressing is where it all starts, and no DAC amp or analog output component can save a bad recording. So maybe I should clarify my "i'd never spend $100 on a CD" remark. What I really meant was, I would never pay $100 for a CD, when the same music, same mastering, can be found... ah... elsewhere, and in these elsewhere's, some one who isn't a fine upstanding man like myself might see fit to ah... get a substantial discount on said recording. like a lot of percent discount.
  21. I hunt that sound that burn ya house to the ground, all day 4eva.
  22. Well I'm totally uninterested in a keyboardless tablet. I am very interested, however, in an aluminum enclosure on a regular MacBook.
  23. I'd say DCC (Hoffman's now defunct label) is more consistently good then MFSL, but MFSL has tons of winners as well. I would never pay $100 for any CD, however.
