Bloody hell this is getting silly! Too many choices fat-skinny-onboard-offboard-L-R-etc...etc...etc....and people are getting in a Tizz. Lets all just stick to what we asked for in the first place. If it turns out that a board you wanted costs 3x as much as another then Tuff luck! lets all just be very grateful that we have been granted access to these wonderful creations and let mwl168 get on with the ordering process. All this chopping and changing is making life more difficult than it need be for mwl168 who took it upon himself to organise this masssssiveeee GB. sorry if i have offended anyone......I just want these boards/cap's in my sweaty palms.....NOW!!- 419 replies

I too have used those box's. The Anodising / Plating rubs off! I have several Dings in mine (They must have been packed like that as the box it arrived in was intact and i do not believe it was opened by customs). Three of the threaded holes had to be re-tapped, one of which was tapped on-the-piss. I had to run a drill through it (at 90deg) and re-tapped it so that the countersunk screws would sit properly. One of the air intake slots is out of alignment approx 5-6mm which is quite noticeable when all the others line up properly.

Those jacks look very nice and your enclosure is gorgeous. What filament are you using?

TRACTOR like engineering Please note i am in no way having a go at Tractor enthusiasts, or there associated engineering or lack of. I have myself driven/worked with quite a few in my time my favourite being John Deere.

Thanks GeorgeP. op27gpz it is. When i first used this pot i installed it in a ß22/balanced. When increasing the volume it made a clicking sound on every turn of the dial, all 41 of them. I was convinced a piece of solder had fallen through the slits that sit just under the input resistors accounting for this behaviour. I opened the thing up Alas no solder or other foreign object had fallen through! what i saw in my opinion was TRACTOR like engineering that is to say i got the impression that it was made with a THAT WILL DO mentality. I was not at all impressed. Pretty on the outside for sure shoddy on the inside. Compared to a seine based pot i have somewhere it's like comparing a fiat 500 to an Aston Martin. They basically both do the same thing but one is soon much nicer than the other. The Khozmo is cheap, i guess you get what you pay for in this instance.

just put this together had it running for a couple of hours now sounds luuuuvly. Shame i only had a cruddy Khozmo quad pot to put in it. will be swapping it out for a nice Elma + Takman metal film resistors when it arrives. A question i have for anyone that might know, what OP27 should i be installing? Whilst browsing Mouser or Farnell there seem to be lots of OP27's varying in price quite considerably.

Love it...And those waaaaavy heatsink fins may i ask where you picked them up? Oh and any chance of seeing her Topless!

This one fits: http://uk.farnell.com/wakefield-solutions/637-20abp/heat-sink-16k-w-to-220/dp/2295718?ost=637-20ABP This one seems to have a similar footprint but a little taller. Have some on order will let you know if it’s any good. http://uk.farnell.com/aavid-thermalloy/sw63-4/heat-sink-to-220-218-6-8-c-w/dp/1213458?ost=SW63-4

Correct. Just pop it into a cordless both sides de-burred in 5 minutes.

I populated the pcb's with their stock values printed on the pcb's themselves. I knew the build was going to be tight and pretty toasty in there hence the holes drilled in the bottom. I have 120ohm resistors in R4/R5.Are these the resistors responsible for setting the current output? Excuse my ignorance for not knowing, I'm on a very steep learning curve here. I used spring loaded connectors believing they would make connecting the wires up would be made easier!...well it didn't. Despite testing every connector prior to soldering it onto the pcb's when it came to connecting the wires up two of the connectors just would NOT accept wire into them! I must have fannyed around for 20 minutes before having to remove one of the heat-sinks from the main enclosure, just to attach 2 wires. I was so sure that spring loaded connectors were the way to go that whilst waiting for some parts to arrive to complete this build i started to populate a KGSSHVMINISTEREO pcb with the said connectors. If it wasn't such a pita i would desolder them and install something else. As my desoldering skills are very limited at the moment i think i'll leave them in for now and just prey they work as i expected . Bet you wished you had never asked now.

Yes the switch is built into the power socket. I really couldn't face drilling another big hole through that thick aluminium front panel. As it is i made a bit of a mess drilling the hole for the headphone output. Thick aluminium faceplates are nice until you have to make big holes in them...20mm+ is my idea of a big hole. This is what i bought. Unloaded it outputs 2x320vac/2x18vac. Thanks for the comments chaps. Im still waiting for someone to ask why i used spring loaded connectors!

Those holes took me a whole 45 mins to drill out. Downloaded some dot paper, printed it onto sticker paper, slapped it on and drill drill drill remembering not to put a hole where you have a pcb fixing.doh!!

Thanks mwl168. These are of course the boards from your group-buy. May i ask how your build is shaping up regarding the temperatures you were experiencing. what would you say is the maximum temp the heat-sinks reach?

Thanks for the kind comments. The cable i use for signal is this...http://www.audiospares.com/product.php?productid=2970&cat=490&page=1 the cable i use for voltage is this ....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Red-19-0-25-PTFE-teflon-silver-plated-copper-wire-/380366586627?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item588f9d8303 he has quite a selection. good quality cable me thinks and affordable.

I got it from e-bay seller findhifi. Im not sure if he still goes by that name as when i click on his username it returns a homepage but with no items for sale!! Give sep_store168 a try as i think he has similar transformers. Thanks for the kind words by the way.

Put this together the other day boards are from the recent group buy that mwl168 organised (many thanks again). This is my first successful KGSSHV build and i am amazed i have actually assembled a working amp. Many thanks of course has to go to Mr Kevin Gilmore and Spritzer for this amazing ever evolving project.
