  1. UK and Ireland are probably the exception. Speeds are still very slow and prices are very high for what you get.
  2. Vicki you might like old school Katatonia more (Dance of December Souls is my favorite by them). Slower music with a lot more atmosphere, like a slower, darker, Black Sabbath with doom vocals. New Katatonia sounds like generic nu-metal. That Edge of Sanity album is far too ADD for me, but I know Colin and xandx1 love it.
  3. Well played Al The KX-R is a breeze to operate. Make sure you stroke its sweet aluminum body at least once every night before its bed time.
  4. Terrific album, but I would still say Time Out is Brubeck's master piece.

    The Wire

Sheeeeeeeit, one of the best series ever.
  6. Heh Charles really isn't a fan of the Pacific Microsonics. I can't blame him with HDCD doing basically nothing unless used in a very specific implementation (which almost no mastering engineer used).
  7. "I listen to the Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell almost exclusively" That must be what they call Hell
  8. How does the 17D3 rank in the mix? I thought you really liked that one.
  9. Zoot Sims - Live at the Half Note Again
  10. Good stuff Dinny, enjoy! I'd love to hear the TP, some day.
  11. You need to zoom out on those waveforms. Most releases will look super compressed when you're looking at 3-5 minutes in a single frame. Cut out 30-45 seconds and paste it into a new window in Audacity. Those tracks are actually fairly dynamic. edit: ugh 2 mb gif hotlinked, no wonder this page was taking longer than others to load
  12. He has a Pacific Microsonics Model *jealous*
  13. last night Akira Kurosawa Soundtracks, music by Fumio Hayasaka and Masaru Sato vinyl box set
  14. Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans I was listening to 90125 earlier. That was enough abuse for my poor brain and ears
  15. Hot Rats and KOB sound great on CR. KOB can still be found at a lot of places, don't hesitate on this one since it's the only version on vinyl where the tapes were aligned for the correct speed. I wish I was into vinyl when the 45 rpm KOB was still in print. Brubeck's Time Out is another great jazz album on CR, though my mono 2eye is pretty nice in itself. A few places still have the CR Time Out for sane prices.
  16. Cracking good fun it is. Though everything is pricey as sin that weekend. I had more fun at Casino De Montreal Canadian GP
  17. I will throw in my 2c as someone that tried to organize a conference in Europe- large venue space is significantly more expensive than the US.
  18. edit no i will play their first album, need more jazz fusion in avantgarde metal
  19. edit: I got an email from someone in Japan that Stax should be distributing pads (didn't specify which ones, but I assume at this point it's only MK2; MK1 pads are old stock) to dealers/stores again.
  20. I mentioned it in the Deals thread that people should get the Classic Records releases they wanted before prices shot up after Michael Hobson made the announcement that they were out of business.
  21. Yeah happened back in March. AcousticSounds bought out the remainder of their inventory and increased the prices of most of the stock.
  22. Very nice! Salvatore's review of the Nantais Lenco makes me really want to do something with my L75 or buy a few more as backups \
