  1. DanC are you going all aluminum 2 box that is the question? Anything less will be disappointing
  2. I await HeadphoneAddict MPI's review to see if they have rubbery bass
  3. Good to know, thanks KG. All in one devices, for the most part, are useless.
  4. Looks great Birgir. Sorry to hear about the 717 Antonio :'(
  5. At least for me, it's just easier to go along with what the majority want to do. Panel wise and stuff it sorts out a lot of the headaches.
  6. Yeah as much as Meridian gear gets a bad rep around here, I do like their remotes as well. Overkill no doubt for the simple things that a CDP needs to do, but the remote is still built well. Anyway I'm concerned about sound quality first and foremost. Which is why I was considering an RK50 or P&G and didn't mind not even having a remote. I was skeptical a touch screen would be completely transparent to electrical noise, but if it's good enough for KG, it's good enough for me
  7. Heh, sorry Jim.
  8. Because threads on Head-Case always stay on topic I moved the posts because the T2 thread is actually worth keeping on topic.
  9. How is an iPad going to do all those things with a preamp? A preamp is not a music playing source. It might make more sense to code this program for a DAC or music server. Sorry I don't buy into iPad hype for a second. I've used one for a few hours. It has a blown up low resolution screen and can't multi task. Not impressive at all. I don't care if the billet aluminum remote costs more. The KG Blowtorch isn't a budget preamp.
  10. Because I don't want a dumb ipad. I want a badass remote. All the remote has to do is change source selection and volume. Not tell me about the weather and crap.
  11. What we need is a pop-up window that asks "did you read your welcome pm?" whenever someone with less than 10 posts tries to post. If they click "yes" it takes them to the welcome pm. If they click "no" it takes them to the welcome pm.
  12. Excellent, I like the way you think. I was thinking aluminum remote too. One that would be a menace to hard wood floors, small children and pets. edit: my Audio Space integrated has a really nice remote. I don't know if it's aluminum, but it's 2 pieces of heavy metal. We could probably find something similar from China.

Congrats Naaman!! She is a cutie
  14. I don't post that, it was uh swt61...yeah I will give in and go touch screen on the Blowtorch
  15. Knob jockey. That sounds like an interesting profession. I want those 50 mm knobs for the KG Blowtorch

That's pretty funny considering the measurements KG posted of the Exstata
  17. You should probably be on a PPI even if you're not taking NSAIDs. Steroids can be harsh on the stomach as well.
  18. My Koetsu experience is in line with jp's. It gets tiring hearing mostly the cartridges signatures record after record. My friend used to be a big Koetsu nut (had 4 or 5 of them iirc), and the DV XV-1s at a third of the cost of the top Koetsu was just all around better.

I will agree there isn't much music discussion here. I use other forums to find out about new music.
  20. I like the look of that new arc assembly, sort of cyber punkish.
  21. Damn SR-404 etch. Forever burned in my ears
  22. grawk's old one built by thrice. It's not a big deal, vinyl on the Omega 2s is sublime. Even when I had the SUT I was mostly listening to digital on the speakers.
  23. I did borrow postie's Cinemags for a few months. In the Stax setup (with Blue Hawaii which had ample gain) comparing the Pearl alone vs Cinemag->Pearl the latter just added a bit too much color for my liking. Low level resolution also took a hit. I can understand when people say the DL-103 is a colored cartridge with Cinemags/Altecs.

There might have been some anti Headfi sentiment back in 2006, but no one really cares any more. It's mostly new members trying to stir the pot. Three of the mods here also moderate (or used to) on Headfi.
