Squeezebox Touch with a USB hardrive connected directly to it. My total cost was under $350, all new hardware. I never even have to have a computer on. The hardrive is 1.5 TB all lossless no lossy.
The Touch interface rocks. And it's not limited to 16/44.
I switched from using SlimServer on my desktop PC to connecting the USB drive directly to the Touch not too long ago. I like to think I'm lowering my energy bill just a little, but running a 50 watt Class A speaker amp probably isn't helping
Well that strikes one person off the list if I ever need to get Quads refurbished. At least the gentleman I spoke to at QS&D was courteous and so was kentaja.
KG any chance the all out assualt KGSS originally mentioned in the first page of this thread will be seeing a board set? The version with higher biased output stage and chassis mounted heatsinks.
Anyone running a dedicated mono cart? I'm curious if anyone is getting less noise on mono LPs vs a stereo cart. If you know if the cart has vertical compliance or none that would be helpful to know as well.
Yeah I somehow ended up with three Jets players. One with a four game suspension and a QB that is probably going to have a mediocre season, I still drafted him in case he gets on fire with a little experience. Twelve teams is rough, putting together a good team on my live draft eight team one was much simpler
IMO by the time any game is able to take advantage of 6 cores the processor speed will be well out of date.
Gaming benchmark comparing it with the 750: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3674/amds-sixcore-phenom-ii-x6-1090t-1055t-reviewed/9
750 looks faster all around by quite a bit in some benches.
You should be able to build an i5 system for under $1000 (as linked in the article), but you're right with AMD you can go a lot cheaper. The Athlon II X3 440 is a terrific performer for how cheap they are. But around the Core i5-750 price range there is nothing from AMD in that price bracket that can beat it. I'm going by US prices though.
This is a good guide TR's Summer 2010 system guide - The Tech Report - Page 1
The bang for the buck "utility player" systems perform really well. I would go the Core i5 route.
Add Diana Krall to the mix. I didn't say similar, just boring (unimaginative, not interesting) all in a genre that is quite innovative. Reks we have our differences on this subject, but I know you have introduced me to some kick ass stuff so I'll just leave it at that.
IMO her music is on par with Kenny G as far as interesting and innovative go. Your last.fm does have Horace Parlan's best album in there so all is forgiven
