  1. So the new Opeth is apparently going to be entirely progressive rock with no death metal I am skeptical, but will keep an open mind...
  2. x2, happy birthday Mike
  3. Happy birthday, hope it was filled with arlon or teflon (or both!) cakes

    Audeze LCD-2

Yup agree with you here. They take a brute force way of presenting the sound, it doesn't make much difference for studio rock and stuff which is what I enjoy them for. Especially highly compressed indie music. I still think the imaging is quite decent with just 4 or 5 instruments like in jazz. But they still fall quite short of the Omega 2 overall.

  10. I have to agree with Matt, Bioshock and Dead Space are both great choices for headphone sound evaluation. Dead Space is creepy as shit with the environmental audio cues and such
  11. IMO the sound quality in TF2 isn't that great and it takes a few hours to get used to the game or it is just not fun. I would recommend a single player FPS one that has really good sound/surround effects. Off the top of my head with a sci-fi theme is Crysis 1 or 2.
  12. Good to hear that man. The waylt threads weren't the same without you
  13. Dear Reks I have missed your enormous album art posts kind regards -loving admirer Tony Williams - Lifetime Emergency vinyl!!

  15. I guess it is an easy decision what to use my Pessante for, since stats > dynamics/orthos

Does anyone know what is in the RedWine Audeze amp, dinky opamp hp amp running off a battery?
  17. I am in for 2 KGSSHV sets updated spreadsheet Have these all been checked over by others to make sure there are no errors in the boards?
  18. To get the day and date on my phone i have to make some sliding gesture and touch the calendar icon ... easier to flick the wrist and look at it
  19. So the D-Box demonstration...they played a 2 minute clip from Avatar 3D. Playback was on a high end 3D projector to a very slightly curved screen The curved screen itself was very nice and there was no image distortion that you normally get projecting on a flat surface. Speakers were all Totem. The thing that made the demonstration interesting was the recliner chairs we sat in. They would vibrate and the cushion would physically move with any extreme motion on the video. ie when he is flying on the pterodactyl looking thing when it dives down you can feel the seat giving way under you. And the same when it went side to side. I am not a fan of 3D, but it was done very well on this setup; the projector itself was very bright so it didn't feel like you losing much light when the active 3D glasses were worn. The part that was disappointing was that the BluRay software needs to be encoded for the D-Box experience... this might be a hindrance given the costs of the setup. I would LOVE to own that 3D projector, easily the best projected image quality I've seen
  20. Been at the show for a few hours. Not really impressed with any of the stereo rooms, most were too boomy sounding. live music demo in the wharf room was exceptional. And I was blown away by the d-box home theater demonstration just floored. More on it when I get to my laptop.
  21. I think I'll be going in tomorrow a bit after it opens. Any exhibits worth prioritizing Dimitry?
