Birgir is your T2 up and fully functional?
-
I could never get a hardrive plugged straight into the Touch to work 100% of the time with the hardrive sizes that hold my entire music collection. Sometimes it would work, other times it would fail to recognize the drive. Maybe things have improved with the many firmware updates, but I stopped trying and stick to my dedicated server.

And all the bad stuff with heart and vessel disease. Personally I think that is an insane diet My 2c.... things taste a lot better when you treat yourself to it occasionally. /off soap box

It's funny... because it could actually happen

I can get the set for roughly $200 after currency conversion, but still not cheap for 5 discs. The other Esoteric discs I own sound excellent, so I have no doubt this will even if the DSD is sourced from 24/96 pcm. Craig you've convinced me to pick it up since I am so used to Karajan. And it's already OOP. WRT to the piano sonatas, I went on a bender with those sampling a bunch of performances through the dirt cheap CDs on Amazon and settled on Annie Fischer's.
-
Thanks Craig. Is Kempe your preferred reference or just an alternative? Sorry, trying to make up my mind on the Esoteric box set which isn't cheap
-
Anyone care to comment on how the Kempe/MPO Beethoven symphony performances are?

Sounded very good to me and vinyl is quiet. Some sibilance here and there though.

Wow. F'ing nice deal. I paid $110 for this

Happy birthday John!

I've been using my SR-007BL again and I think these remain my favorite headphones, the honey moon phase with the SR-Omega has worn off. But they are still great. Loving the O2 even more with my new turntable

7/6/11 never forget :'(

I don't plan to remove/move any posts, but I'd appreciate if we could stay on topic as someone that is in the process of building one, it's much easier not wading through a bunch of junk posts

I would strongly suggest building some non-high voltage amps first and doing some reading about the circuitry (and obviously high voltage safety). KG has good articles on Headwize for the original KGSS.

Reks did you ever end up getting a Sous Vide machine?

I have noticed all these traits with the VPI's I have heard - a bit dark, not as much emphasis on leading attacks, can make instruments like alto sax and mute trumpet sound more pleasant than they really are. This might be why people tend to pair them with Dynavectors. I thought they were musical, but clearly not many fans here on Head-Case if you do a search. While I have not spent time with an LP12, I think Stereophile's review of the Scout is quite accurate. Also in the USA, VPI customer service is outstanding.
-
I like the VPI house sound (ducks under chair ), my friend used to have an Aries 3 and it was similar to the Scout.
-
If I may use a lame analogy the Scout is to the HD650, as the Spacedeck is to SR-Omega.

I do have it playing and listened to 33 and 45 rpm vinyl last night to make sure it was working at both speeds. The sound is very good, but the Bloom sounds different from my impressions on the Scout. I'm not entirely sure I like the changes, but it might take some getting used to (one thing I do like is instument timbre is more accurate). I listened to really revealing music (reissues with full frequencies intact and little compression) and it's far from the soft nature I was hearing on the Scout. The cart sounds a lot closer to an Airy 3 I heard from a pbthal needle drop. One other question- is it ok to leave the motor pod plugged in all the time (can unplugging it when not in use harm it)? I can feel a slight vibration on the pulley when it isn't in use, but plugged in. Playing Wayne Shorter The Soothsayer, Music Matters 45 rpm last night

The counter weight is pushed in about 1.5-2 mm from the end of black plastic piece... so there is a lot of room for the weight to move forward. This is with a 1.3g non-magnetic headshell weight, I'll try it without the headshell weight later. VTF is at 2.2g, haven't tried anything else yet (what sounded best to me on the JMW-9, with appropriate tracking). I don't think it will be possible to only extend one foot to get it level, unless I add some rubber pieces to the baseboard.
-
Yeah it did, though I am not sure if it is the upgraded version, the color is more bronze. edit: found the second set screw on the arm collar. Tightened it gently and now the tonearm doesn't move at all, makes me feel much better. I found the bit in the manual where Tom Fletcher says to tighten everything to taste Liking what I am hearing, not as dead sounding as the Scout.
-
Yeah for some reason I thought without an armlock the arm could be bumped so it goes over the left protective "guard rail" sailing into the platter. But the uni mechanism prevents it from lifting that high. Playing some Monk & 'Trane now.
-
Does the tonearm screw into the armboard in any way? Or is it only the VTA adjustment screw that makes contact? This is freaky with no armwand lock, guess I will have to be extra diligent about replacing the stylus guard when not in use.

I am liking it a lot. Sort of Rubicon-ish, but better paced.
