  1. I think anyone that likes kraut rock should give this a listen. Like Amon Duul or Can on steroids (or more drugs). This is one of my favorite albums in the last few years. ...just looking at the album art you know this is going to be some crazy drugged out Germans making crazy drugged out music. Originally released in 1972, came back in print with Garden of Delights in Germany. Also available on vinyl (kinda pricey). The entire album is 10 tracks of progressive kraut, a pretty good rollercoaster of music. There's the non-stop guitar shredding, shrieking male vocals, female chanting, slow droning synthesizers pretty much everything you'd think of that goes hand in hand with kraut/psych. Sound quality: it's no audiophile recording, but it's pretty damn good. Being recorded in the 70's it's not squashed to hell and back. There's plenty of dynamic range, and there isn't much post processing; what you're hearing is basically just amplified instruments. Aquarius has a much more entertaining summary: Here is a sample of the first track (~100 kbps LAME MP3, so quality is ok) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OO8P6M26 So where do I buy this most righteous album? Aquarius Records (or ebay) are the only places I know of: http://aquariusrecords.org/ Aquarius is a small record store in San Francisco with truly awesome customer service. When they process your order you get a personal email from their inventory/packing people letting you know it's shipped out. They also include all sorts of cool promotional stuff like mini posters and stickers with every order. At the very least add your email to their mailing list, they stock some pretty dank stuff.
  2. I know if I wanted the ultimate dynamic amp I'd get a SinglePower, not so sure anymore now that custom build times take so long. A maxxed out Extreme in a Maestro chassis is my dream.
  3. Yeah I was looking up some of the prices on the SquareSoft stuff, it's a little silly. Then again I never was a fan of emulators, so I guess there's others that like having the original controller/playing it on their TV.
  4. Yeah I'm not sure what happened. No one in my family smokes, it's just been sitting in its original box for around 10 years. Maybe the styrofoam had something to do with it...
  5. I tested Final Fantasy II, and III and Chrono Trigger and they're all working still Plus I have Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island somewhere, oh yes and Mario RPG
  6. I grabbed my SNES and some games from my parents house this weekend. Time for some old school bedroom gaming And now time to kill innocent bunnies
  7. To add to the OP, I guess the same could be said about smoking. We had to break the news to a 37 yro gentleman that he has lung cancer. He's leaving behind two young children.
  8. Probably better answered on their forums: http://forums.slimdevices.com/
  9. If you went the Transporter route, you could use the hardrives in your gaming PC to store music, and use wireless to stream to another room. There are mods for the analog output stage of the Transporter as well.
  10. How many people have this $18k pen? Wait there's no subforum for Maki-e...
  11. hungrch you could transcode the wma to aac which is the lossy itunes codec. I wouldn't mind just the 28 mb wma since it will work on foobar
  12. If someone could transcode it to a lossy codec (I don't care what) and upload it so it's much smaller I'd listen.
  13. I haven't. I run around too much for the work I'm going to be doing, and I lose a lot of pens. Plus I need a ball point since orders have to be written on carbon copy sheets.
  14. It looks like this might be the route I'm going, I found a buyer for my second K1000. Leaning more towards the L3000 than a watch.
  15. spoilers So who do you guys think was in the coffin? My prediction is Sawyer. My reasons: -no one shows up for the funeral. Sawyer has no family or friends -when the funeral director asks Jack if he's friend or family Jack says neither. Which is true, Jack wouldn't consider him a friend -when he sees Kate at the end and asks her why she wasn't at the funeral, he says "you of all people should have been there" Why it might not be Sawyer: -Jack is really, really sad/disturbed about the death spoilers
  16. Heard it with the HR-2, B52 and MAD Ear+ HD
  17. Thanks 909, I liked your review on headphonereviews.org humanflyz: I was wowed by the PS-1 when I heard them. But every time I kept turning them up to drown out ambient noise from the meet the bass and air it pushed become too much and I had to turn them down again. A John Coltrane track on my test disc was the only one that was well balanced.
  18. So I'm pretty close to graduation and I haven't really bought myself anything nice since February. I was initially going to get a very nice watch, but the last few weeks I've really been considering the L3000. It doesn't help that I didn't like them at the last Boston meet, but I'd like to give them another shot. Basically I'd like a more bassy, fun alternative to my two main headphones. I see the K1000s deficiency with rock music now that I have the HP-2. The HP-2 doesn't exaggerate bass, so it's great for those pristine recordings, but not so great for the poorly done stuff (where basslines/dynamics are buried). They've also been getting the majority of my head time since I mostly listen to classic rock and onwards. "what are you listening to thread" is an accurate representation of what I listen to.
  19. Same ol' angry Trent, pushing 40 and still filled with rage.
  20. :o :o holy shit spoiler walt spoiler
  21. Oh damn you can get an Ergo2 for under $200...now I really want to hear one.
  22. If I was looking for a SS amp the B22 would be on the top of the list.
  23. I guess I'm the only one that can't stand the SR-225. Improves greatly with flats, but still not that great. I owned them twice, the second time hoping they'd replace my HF-1.
