  1. Oh man what memories. Good ol' minya.
  2. I signed up for a C++ class in high school to motivate myself to get the Mindstorm kit. Too bad programming made my eyes glaze over. If they still make that stuff I'd love to pick up a set. And I too sort of fell off Legos just as they started doing the generic space stuff. I have a bunch of sets where the theme was black and neon green in space But my favorite Lego figures were always the pirates. They had the best faces.
  3. Please tell Roam to design a DHT amp for stats
  4. The mofi CD of DSotM isn't that great. I have an original and it's fun to listen to for the massive bass eq they added. The most highly sought after CD versions are very early Japanese pressings, that sell for $400-600. Even then not that great compared to the vinyl.
  5. DSotM mofi should sound great. Even on my humble tt setup the 30th anniv sounds fantastic.

Is there an easy way to replace the elastics on the Sextett (didn't think this deserved its own thread)
  8. I think the dispute the customs officials might be arguing- was VAT ever payed on the system...since it was bought from a UK dealer then sent to South Africa. I have no idea if VAT is added in the purchase price of such an expensive item or not (or if it is calculated afterward). When I lived in Ireland you received a specific VAT receipt for all electronics. You could request it for small items such as food and stuff as well (but even grocery receipts had VAT numbers on them). I am so glad I don't have to deal with that crap anymore. Had two nightmare incidents with customs, that's enough for one lifetime.
  9. I rented a tux two years in a row for the annual black tie ball. Such a rip off, buying my own was a good move. Saved over $500 in the next four years.
  10. EdipisReks is our Head-Case CD3000 fanboy. Or CD3000 "monster"
  11. You know whats a good recording you might like-- Ai Aso & Wata - She's So Heavy. Wata is such a nice singer
  12. More music. Good recordings are the cheapest and best upgrades
  13. I think the amp looks great- simple, nice text, no garish logos. I'm going for a similar look for my next one.
  14. You probably can. It's called the season one miniseries
  15. This is one of my favorite albums on the Lambdas so far. It's Comus - First Utterance, a psychedelic folk album from the 1970s. The Lambdas are delicate, yet have incredible slam when the music kicks into high gear. And they are incredibly resolving of all the small detail. I imagine it sounds even better on the SR-007. First three tracks here, download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0TYKZXE4
  16. This is going to sound really dumb recommending Battlestar Galactica to a girl but I'll do it anyway. It's a good mix of action, politics, drama, religion and just human survival and interactions. And for the testosterone junkies the action sequences are pretty good. I recommended everyone watch the season one pilot, it's about two hours. If you really get into it you'll probably like the rest of the show. If you don't, there is a good chance you won't like the show. That's been my experience recommending it to friends. My best friend's mom (music teacher) is hooked on it after my friend bought the DVDs. The less you know about the show going into it the better. There are spoilers all over the net. Here is the tv.com summary which doesn't give much away. Most of the crap on TV is just crap. But BSG and Lost are my crack in television form
  17. Damn ROHS, no mercury tube rectifiers, lead free solder, small dildos
  18. Going to be a good evening of prog rock... Hard to find Manticores of EL&P

  22. I watched all eight episodes of Big Bang Theory this last week. Not a bad show, the laugh track is terrible though.
