  1. I've only had them since this morning. But so far I'm really digging the sound Some initial impressions. Very balanced sound with exceptional tonality. The first thing I noticed is how forward the sound signature is (similar to the K1000). The soundstage isn't as large as the Omega 2 MK1. The Omega 2 has this uncanny ability to throw its voice like a ventriloquist projecting sounds outside the dimensions of the earspeaker. The Koss can't quite do that. The Koss have very, very nice midbass and impact making them fun to listen to with rock. They have a hint of that deep bass that is crying to come out, but doesn't extend that far. Mids and highs are very well balanced and nicely detailed. I still prefer the mids on the Omega 2, they have the ability to completely disappear. Just to see how they scale with the stock amp I swapped out the North Star M192 with my Denon DA-500 and then an old Panasonic DVD player. The ESP scale very nicely. Detail and imaging will take a bit longer to nail down, I'll need to listen to more reference recordings. They still possess that effortless nature of electrostats, like there isn't any hint of them struggling to keep up (sort of hard to describe in words ) Non sound impressions: Build quality isn't so great. They feel a bit flimsy. The stock cable must be like 3-3.5 feet, were they expecting us to use a shirt pocket amp without the extension cable Comfort is above average. Again I prefer the Omega 2. The Koss are similar to the Lambdas as far as comfort goes.
  2. It would be neat if it was in a glass bottle, would be a cool keepsake. But plastic and chemicals doesn't exactly stand up to the test of time \
  3. Sounds better than the Ice Cucumber from last summer
  4. I don't think so. The computer is too noisy for anything other than closed headphones.
  5. It's amazing that this card still has updated drivers for it. XP with SP2 and even has Vista drivers, it might be about ten years since it came out
  6. Very dull Saturday night at my house so I decided to clean up the basement. Found this gem from over seven years ago. Installed it and enjoyed some music out of my old PC. Sounds very good, better than the EMU-0404usb from memory. Bonus points for having a Virtual Dynamics thickness breakout cable that could probably kill a small animal
  7. I think I'll hang on to this one (and the rest of their DCCs I'll inevitably buy). I was reminded to get The Doors stuff when some clowns on XM Radio were trashing The Doors but thought Amy Winehouse was good
  8. Buying music online is too easy Ah well at least this stuff is only going to be worth more, not less.
  9. The Doors self titled DCC gold cd.
  10. Too bad you didn't win that CDP in the HFi give away
  11. Do you believe a good CDP can improve sound quality? If yes, then get to it
  12. I'm going to keep it under wraps until I do get one. They don't come up too often and I'd rather not be competing with anyone else
  13. I'm going to be getting one soon.
  14. Picked up a few more goodies. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (DVD-A) Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream (CD/DVD-A) Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast Castle Limited 2 disc
  15. Sure, I'll try and explain it better. This is the Windows version of Firefox. For example if I type "st" (without the quotation marks) in the URL bar it looks for all the previous URLs with "st" in them as well as home page or thread names. So it basically makes it a lot faster for me to find websites or threads I've read. So I don't have to type out a lot of the name of a website to have it pop up in my URL bar. It's sort of like an "intelligent" search feature in the URL bar. an example: Searching for "st" it brings up a thread with "West Germany" in it and "Acoustic Sounds" I can basically two or three letter search 90% of the websites I go to.
  16. I really need to upgrade my TN panel to an IPS
  17. Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun CD/DVD-A
  18. You'd be lord of the manor if you were 18 and lived in the freshman dorms
  19. Artificial intelligence is no match for real stupidity.
  20. Darth Vader seems to have some thumb tacks stuck to his helmet.

    Deals

That is a nice deal. Does BD tax the video card like x264 or high resolution xvid?
  22. bread-case.org anyone? I didn't actually buy the domain.
  23. That looks pretty good The current Toy Story ride in DisneyWorld where you shoot static targets and accumulate points is great fun.
