Most people in this thread either:
1. reterminated a Koss extension cable with an OEM 5 pin connector
2. recabled the headphones with a Stax cable
3. bought the APS adapter
Why don't you want to do number 1 again? A spare extension cable from Koss is under $15.

All good points. Plus Seagate offers five year warranties, all the more reason for me to buy their drives. And I think the Drobo looks fine, I've never bought any audio component or computer component for its looks. /looks at mac users

Yeah their upgrade path is very nice. I don't think I would be able to go further than a Serac/Artisan Audio tonearm at the moment.
Naaman I'd love to get on the HE 1.2b loaner as well. I'm not in a hurry to replace my DAC so I don't mind waiting a while for the Buffalo. You can put postjack in front of me.
Isn't the cable entry independent of the rotating pads? The pads and the cable entry/metal rings rotate separately?
The seam is angled slightly towards my temple and the cable entry still comes out at an angle similar to most headphones; almost straight down.
