  1. some highlights in the box Duke Ellington - This Ones For Blanton (Fantasy 45) <- damn you Baguette for posting that needle drop. I had to seek out the vinyl after that. Not really cheap Lightnin Hopkins - Goin Away (Fantasy 45) Bill Evans - Inerplay (Fantasy 45) Still really hoping the Bill Evans AP box comes out, but AP and SH have been very quiet about it Steven Wilson - Insurgents (limited edition) Miles Davis - The Great Prestige Recordings box set. Nice box, crappy booklet. Over priced (IMO) at new price.
  2. Hmm a huge box of vinyl at the doorstep. 30-40 lbs... Makes me wish I had a DD or idler that could easily switch between 33 and 45 rpm.
  3. I probably should have added I've only heard a handful of new music this month Still I really dig the Bear in Heaven album.
  4. The E90 is pretty bad, I couldn't believe it until I heard the ESP950 on the BHSE. Still not quite to my taste though.
  5. A few highlights from my vinyl purchases this month Neil Young albums 1-4 box set (180g) Jethro Tull - Aqualung (Classic Records 45 box set) Genesis - Nursery Cryme (2nd pressing on UK Madhatter, from 1st pressing stampers) Allman Bros - At Fillmore East (US first pressing) Allman Bros - s/t (US first pressing) Led Zep - III (Classic Records 200g) Beck - Sea Changes (mfsl)

  7. Bear in Heaven - Beast Rest Forth Mouth favorite album of Nov 09 so far
  8. Nice Wish I could properly celebrate with you guys tomorrow
  9. That would wipe out the politicians as well. And somebody's gonna know something is up when all of them run for the bunkers. I also highly doubt we'd be able to orchestrate that on a global scale. Pretty good pilot. Some terrible acting, but eh it's TV.
  10. I will watch the opener of V tonight. I finished The Wire yesterday.
  11. Any of the vinyl junkies picking up the four album Neil Young box set? I think I will be preordering it.
  12. I agree with you 100%, though my 2900 is stock. SACD has never sounded "right" to me on any of the high resolution players I have tried. I also prefer DVD-A and I have compared SACDs and DVD-As with identical mastering. edit: I should also add, that another sign of the further demise of SACD, is there is currently only one SACD pressing plant in the USA.
  13. I think I will ask Dinny instead
  14. Digital does funny things to people.
  15. Who was making the original assumption? Me, Jacob, Regal? My post really wasn't meant to be taken seriously, as your X, Y, Z statement obviously wasn't a null hypothesis, and I don't think anyone could have construed one from the gibberish I posted
  16. I guess the rebutal would more properly be: Back in da day manufacturerrs be rolling 40 deep OG style, none of this spinnerz on tricyclez or baseball cardz in da spokes, delta-sigma? shiiiiiiiiiiiite, seventeeen ohhh fours and PM Deeez nutz 100 or broke That's a much better null hypothesis
  17. Hard to argue since you haven't named any specific DAC. I have heard crappy, good and very good vintage DACs. Also I can imagine it's hard to make solid impressions about sources at meets since the entire chain being unfamiliar...
  18. I think most collectors or fanatics would consider the first pressing UK tube cut vinyl to be the best. They go for silly money though, so I'm sure the German vinyl is a fine cheaper substitute. I only have problems with the Abbey Road stereo. The mono box sounds fine.
