  1. When you goona build one, Livewire?
  2. I'm in the process of building a box that allows me to put in 310 ohms resistance in each positive line of a headphone to see what the difference it makes. Why 300 ohms? I have a beyer T1 in my collection that's 600 ohms. It has a 12 position rotary switch and a 3 position rotary switch in each leg. So, there's 110 ohms with 10 ohm resistors in the first switch. 200 Ohms with 100 ohm resistors in the second switch. Also has a toggle switch to plug in/out 5 ohms. It will be capable of handling the normal 6.5mm TRS plug & 4 pin balanced XLR connectors. I am debating whether to add 3 pin XLR connectors to the mix. Should prove interesting.
  3. спасибо
  4. Pin 1 should be grounded on the panel by one of the mounting screws which hold the socket to the chassis. Make sure the panels are grounded to the base by removing any paint, powdercoating etc.
  5. Is it my imagination, or is something wrong with the Dymahi BOM?
  6. A KGSS or KGSSHV.
  7. Point taken Dusty.
  8. XXXX is pronounced fourex. we have a running joke down here that the Queenslanders didn't introduce daylight saving time there for decades because they were worried the extra hour of sunlight would fade their curtains faster.
  9. Now, there's an idea with merit. It could mean the SR009 successor would not be as bright, possibly somewhere between the SR009 & SR007Mk1. I'd want one.......
  10. Those are links connecting tracks on the other side of the board. Yes, leave them alone.
  11. Bring back Mullards. (or is that mallards- I'd better duck for cover).
  12. The Queenslanders here in OZ called their local beer XXXX because they can't spell beer.
  13. I think that if the headphone companies built better headphones, then amps that are wire-with-gain would sound better than the present situation where a synergy exists between a headphone and an inferior amp. Pipe dream? most probably. Until the headphone manufacturers use the best wire-with-gain amps we will continue having the problem that now exists. We really have no real idea what amps most companies use to voice and test their phones. It would be interesting to find out what Stax amp Stax used to test and develop the SR009, and what it would have been if they used the BHSE as their test rig.
  14. That's the spirits.......
  15. You don't get rattles with silicon...... just rattled.
  16. What's your point of reference? Where was the other voltmeter probe connected to?
  17. You really need a HV probe th check the bias voltage as the meter is a big drain on the supply. Normal voltmeter is about 10 megohms load. Since the bias supply has a 5 megohm resistor in series, this causes a voltage drop of about a third due to the loading of the muiltimeter. You are better off checking the bias voltage on the other side of the 5 megohm resistor.
  18. Gimme that cold hard silicon.
  19. YAY...! about time, John.

    The Abyss

    Typical Guttenberg fluff......
  21. C'mon, John - You know you want to build one.....
  22. The Megatron? Happy birthday, Birgir. Bake yourself a nice big birthday cake.
  23. Chalk one up for Dusty.
