RSComponents doesn't stock MPSW sand only MPSA. http://au.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=mpsw42Has 3387 and 4132 in stock.
  2. There are some that would say that the different versions of tubes used would be part of that difference, and there are those that would say it makes no difference. The only way to be sure is to use the same tubes in each one and then come to a conclusion. Or, you could just swap the tubes over and look for differences. Being the sort of person I am, tube rolling is one of the reasons I built a KGSSHV and not a KGBH/BHSE. The only reason I'm in the process of building the KGST is because there's not the scope for tube rolling. I find life much more enjoyable turning on the amp and listening to what I've got as opposed to spending hours tube rolling looking for different species and quantities of plankton. The real anal retentives would build the KGSSHV in both Sanyo and IXYS versions and post the results over at the other site as a great service to the crowd over there. After all, David mahler did it with his headphone collection, and the thread still gets newbies wanting him to insert their flavour of the month new headphone so that they can get confirmation on their spectacular purchase
  3. Canned air costs money, some vacuums have an air outlet where you can plug the hose into. Since the amp is low voltage, the flux isn't such a problem as in Stax driveable amps, but does show bad manufacture practice.
  4. Carbon Tetrachloride is good if the grime is greasy. For yours, just a blow out with a reversed vacuum cleaner and a soft bristled paint brush about 2.5cm wide should get most of the dust off. Do it in the back yard.
  5. The heat dissipation considerations alone are worthy of emulation.
  6. Happy birthday Can you pull yourself away from the DIYT2 long enough to respond? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-8Zani3XrY or, perhaps:-
  7. Have you tried here? http://www.pcbway.com/?cgaw=101&gclid=CIilsYOsicICFVglvQodrpkAIw
  8. it's like building a car by buying the parts at retail price.
  9. You're right, just endless tube rolling.
  10. If the square of the hypotenuse equals the square of the sum of the other two sides, then definitely yes.
  11. I guess then it's the KGST.
  12. How about one of these? http://www.timbernation.com/Highendaudiorack_PopUp.cfm
  13. Should liik like this:- http://au.element14.com/bourns/h-90/trimming-tool/dp/109151?Ntt=Bourns+652-H-90 http://au.rs-online.com/web/p/trimmer-resistor-adjustment-tools/2508757934/
  14. And, are you saying the pads and headband are subject to the second law of thermodynamics i.e. entropy?

    Oppo PM3

Had a listen to the Oppo PM2 & PM3 today. Nice phones. Which would I pick? The Hifiman HE560. I really liked them. But, as usual, YMMV.
  16. The AKG K1000
  17. When I first heard Kris Kristofferson or Bob Dylan it didn't matter how good the system was,it still sounded flat and off key. I tried for years to make them sound good. The I realised that is just the way they sound. Good songs but not-so-good vocals.
  18. Wrong choice. A rolex only makes a tick-tock monophonic sound. Your avatar name of "HeadphoneAddict" will have to be handed in or replaced with "TimeBomb" by sundown.
  19. OK, so it's the guy with the bleeding ears has the 009mk3rev4batch2.
  20. How could you differentiate them visually?
  21. FTFY. True dat, even if they sometimes are brighter than your shirts, they still don't scream as bad as the Sony MDR-SA5000's do.
  22. Apparently they have nearly opposite sound sigs. The MDR-Z7 has a mids suck-out with plenty bass whereas the CD3000 is just bright...
  23. The can be had for circa $500.
  24. Thanks.
