  1. Finally found another use for some Mallee Burl...
  2. I can't wait for someone to butcher up a new Senn Orpheus so the headphone/earspeaker part could run on this. Gotta be the bestest of the best......
  3. I'd like to see that. I would suspect it would have the 5 Meg bias resistorinstalled, and no pixie dust, hens teeth, unicorn tears, snake oil filled capacitors or other exotica such as The Judge power cable from Coconut Audio to obfuscate things...... Right...?
  4. Only US$37,950 at your friendly MSB purveyor of fine products. Roll up, roll up, get yours now. http://www.msbtech.com/products/headphone.php?Page=../index
  5. Perhaps plastic surgery is indicated here...... Otoplasy for the win.... Cochlear implant is a valid alternative.....
  6. At least they will only blow once to protect the fuse.... perhaps.....
  7. Don't do it, just don't......! Even if you get away with it this time, it may embolden you to try it when the consequences may be considerably more severe. Good practice and habits should never be sacrificed on the altar of expedience, unless you know what you're doing or you don't mind the fallout.
  8. As if there's not enough substandard goods floating around as it is. But, everyone likes a percieved bargain, even at the risk of getting stung. Hindsight is always 20/20 vision, except to the deluded or chronic cases of cognitive dissonance.
  9. The best form of Beryllium http://www.minerals.net/mineral/beryl.aspx https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beryl
  10. Top Darwin headphone contender:-
  11. They're the new FrankenStax.....

  13. How can I like Dave, when I don't even know him...?
  14. Where's Tyll... Moar bass...? Sounds like the perfect mod for the HD800... Who says Sennheiser knows what's best for their headphones.... Or, even Stax, for that matter.... Get rid of the old guard, and slot in the new blood... progress at it's best....
  15. All it needs now is edstrelow's sorb mod.... Stax should sit up and take notice.....
  16. Yeah, GeorgeP had one for sale over at Head-Fi -

This, from the Woo site:- "Everything Should Be Made as Simple as Possible, But Not Simpler - Albert Einstein" Now you know why they don't bother with the 4.7M bias resistor......

    Audeze LCD-2

The subterfuge didn't work.... Little does astroboy know that Birgir has a continuous search engine primed for any appearance of the word 'Stax' anywhere in this forum.
  20. Looks like it's a autoranging meter and probably be better if you could manually set the range to the one lower. That is, if the meter allows you to set the range manually. Cheap meters are sometimes well out of spec when the range is too high.
  21. ... and then, turn around, and do the opposite of that....
  22. Don't trust the measurements.........
