This is a classic example of why you never go offroading alone. Was with three other folks and they gave me a ride home.

Made the mistake of not giving the Jeep a real proper look-over before taking it out for its first bit of dirt today. Missed two things: a. the tires are rotting a bit more than I had previously thought and b. there are some very subtle locking lug nuts on the wheels for which I don't have the key. Made it over all sorts of rocks no problem but took a root at one wrong angle and ripped a 2" gash in the sidewall. Couldn't patch it and couldn't swap the spare. Had to leave it out there for the night since the sun was already setting. Should be an interesting tomorrow. It's at 33.111887,-105.967308 if you want to look.

Thank you Friends. I failed to take Mike's advice to not get any older. And it's Capt Hiccups to you Jeff.

Happy Birthday Uncle Absorbine! Hope your beverage is cold and refreshing.

A bit late but I flew a mission on a Huey yesterday. Naaman, am I cool yet?
-
No idea what that is but damn, did you hand-solder that? Fuck.

I used a Pace (if I am remembering correctly, it was a MBT250 even) in a past job and I can chime in a third time that it is a darn fine iron.

Thank you everyone and glad to see my neighbors celebrated with me!

Damn those are hot. Semi-related, has anyone tried turning lapis lazuli? I was thinking of trying to get a nice piece with plenty of pyrite in it for my next project.

Rained here today, snowed up in the mountains.

Baked a few pizza and rolls with the leftover dough on the back of the 17" cast iron skillet. Worked really well, make some very good crust. I just have to work on the dough recipe since since mine over-inflated to an astounding degree. More bread than pizza ultimately.

I enjoy the 14k nib. It glides very nicely on the paper and feels softer than the nib on the 2000. Though I personally like the harder nib on my Sailor more.
-
I bought a Lamy Dialog 3. I always wanted a retractable nib and this one takes the cake in my option. It's a bit thicker than a Vanishing Point but I like the 14k gold nib a ton more and the rotate to extend the nib action is superb. Pics when I remember to stop leaving it at work.

I motion the name of this thread be changed then.

Does anyone have a preferred vendor for teflon tube sockets or will the ones I can grab off of Ebay be fairly nice?
-
I will remember to document my pens visually from now on for you. Rhodium plated gold nib, goes with the rest of the trim. Original

That is stupid expensive for a pen I don't think looks very good. Dialog 3 looks better in my opinion. For you John:

After a two month back-order, I received my Pelikan M805 Stresemann. I like it, a lot. Work still necessitates use of a ballpoint often so I laser-engraved my Zebra F701. John, putting a new nib on a Pilot Metro should be as easy as pulling out the nib and feed with a bit of strength and swapping in another from a cheaper pen. I've done this by putting the nib from a $9 Plumix onto a Prera. All the same fit.

Came out ok, I think it could be improved on. Fish sauce was definitely noticeable.
