This post is USELESS without pics...

Yes - I own the world's UGLIEST BH, if I do say so myself...

Got this seriograph (form the MMA in Ft Worth) for my birthday - the framing was 6x the cost of the 'print', with museum plexi (you CAN tell the diff) http://www.allposters.com/View_HighZoomResPop.asp?apn=366477&imgloc=8-838-B5YY000Z.jpg&imgwidth=645&imgheight=930 Other than that, my Acura RDX... I do like.

Makes me wonder how Kelly hasn't found Head-case - I miss the racoon head.

I was all in at $325, but shilled on the snipe - allegedly the STAX hype is over, but, alas, not just yet. It was interesting no one else was over $220 except this bidder, so I'm thinking it was Laurent himself (the seller) as I had tried to buy these outright from him prior to the listing. Fucking pussy. That said, someone else would have taken them after I'd listened a bit to further my journey of self discovery.

[update Nov 17 1007]: Please be patient during this difficult time ... We are continuing to work on the site. We hope to have an update soon. Sounds bleak.

That is so Larry David... Happy b'day.

How long 'til the 'fi is operating normally again?
pabbi1 replied to Iron_Dreamer's topic in Off Topic
It is all the same thing - most likely tits up in a total scramble. This is where the data recovery guys might be smelling a really fat payday, because even a 99.9% recovery, depending on the data lost, will still be totally unacceptable. Lawyers at dawn action. This really freaks me out, as I have a 128 Tb SAN, and have paid a lot of $$$ for redundancy, monitoring and backup systems - just no way to REALLY test a complete disaster recovery in our topology. This is a real world case study for my Product Manager. My responsibility is the code, but if the data gets whacked... there but by the grace of God (and MOM / StoreVault) go I. -
You should be banned for mentioning it... but, I am curious - how many new registrations have occurred this week, and what does the traffic graph show? Seeing a LOT more familiar names from 'over there'.

What do you think of "markl Mod for Denon AH-D5000" thread?
pabbi1 replied to purk's topic in Headphones
Yeah, without Head-fi, I'm kinda rudderless... just think how impotent the poor mods must feel, with no posts to delete, and no users to ban. -
Ah, the dyslexia - I thought it was Petty Princess, but whichever fits.

Gluttony, Birgir, pure gluttony.

I think it is all just a plot to be rid of the beta22, MillettMax, and whatever is disturbing about Ultrasone. Oh, and my colossal fuckups on the Blue Hawaii and Millett will be fading memories... liking this more all the time...

Who can stand against the glory of Team Jahn? \

Jesus - does this mean (P)RickCr will be back? If only it would bring back Kelly, but, alas, that was too long ago. x? on feeling for Jude - so matter what else, his paying gig is at stake, and that shouldn't happen to anyone. Question is, will recovering Jude's business require him to dispose of Head-fi, or, at least, turn it over to someone else?

I thought a Raptor was great until I heard the Wheatfield HA2, then the Blue Hawaii... Pete Millett, Ti Kan and KG are all Gods to me...

Well, I have the HE60, and not the others - not that I didn't lust for R10 for the longest time - well, until I actually heard them. I have heard the OII extensively out of an ES1 from an Acoustic Arts (some or another) which was exceptional, but never heard it through any of the Gilmore amps. I LOVE the tinge of grit the HE60 has in my current setup, though I do need a better source. The HE60 does NOT lack bass with the BH, though it isn't as pronounced as the Lambdas, or, presumably, the OII. My problem is that I was never able to hear all the pieces in the various combinations at once - IF I would be allowed the latitude to guess my real preference, it would be the Shanling T300 -> BH --> HE90, with the HE60 getting 30% of the snaps, all depending on the music. HE60 for rock / grunge / punk, and HE90 for anything acoustical or classical. If my luck holds, I'll check some Gamma Pros in short order, and be looking for some 4070 just to see. I really cannot spare $7k for HE90 but can probably spring the $3-4k for a T300.
-
I had the opportunity to sample all 3 head to head for a couple of hours at a friend's house (in the Caymans ), and could stand the R10 for about 7 minutes, the OII for about the same, and the HE90 for the balance... in all, 15 minutes were totally wasted. Neither touched the HE90, even though this was with the HEV90. Wish I could have heard them with the BH just because it is NOT as 'polite' as the HEV90. This was through a Shanling T300, and about as nice as I could have imagined. Of course, he felt his $90k vinyl rig really was far better... and, may have been... \

Try option #4 http://apuresound.com/images/cables/hhe60.html on this page - I believe that is mine, or a reasonable facsimile thereof. The adapter is waste in comparison, sound wise. Oh, and I think there is (or was) an error on that link from Headwize... specifics escape me.
-
Worth it - he uses a really nice Amphenol (?) silver contact plug - it is a committment, but he also puts the other side as well so the stinking HEV70 _can_ still be used. Not sure why you would ever go back, but, just in case.

OK, I only have two stats at the moment with the Blue Hawaii... granted I am using Mullard xf3 (on pair of NOS xf2 in the house, just waiting on the other pair), but the Lambda is just change of pace from the HE60. It is a tradeoff, but the HE 60 is the sweeter midrange of the two, and a bit better top end. The Lambda has the bass, so, yeah, for Who, Lane's Addiction, Tool or Hoobastank, the Lambdas are better. For Neil Young, Allison Krause, or anything acoustic or classical, HE60 by a mile. I have to disclaim the HD600 is MY all time reference, and the HE60 it's nearest stat signature, so, again, this says more about me and my tastes than it does about the phones. Oh, and this thread contains a McAlister reference - so not worthy, at least not any more.

I paid $350 for mine this summer, and was offered another pair last week for $375 (just didn't need another pair). Sould be in the $325-400 range, depending on condition, though I have seen eBay range much higher.
-
Yes - I heard all Mark's phones at the Dallas meet, and love the Lambda Pros, and the Lambda Signatures (enough to buy a pair myself). Veniogenesis also has some Signatures for sale at a fairly reasonable price, even though Spritzer thinks they are 'boring'. Question is, without a good amp, why bother, though you (Nate) can build a KGSS for ~$500, or a BH for ~$1100, or so. Oh, I know there are cheaper amp options, like a SRM-T1, or one of the energizers, but that would be my choice. I think the Sigmas are shit, which allegedly says more about me than them.
-
To be fair, this is a case where functional need is driving my purchase - truly not a personal reaction to anyone, save a wise-ass response. I just need closed phones for the office, and matched to a balanced amp. A deal popped up, and I took it... as yet unheard... It also has to be noted I did buy some AH-D5000 and sold them to Thrice unopened, and never heard, but heard two modded pair at a meet, without being convinced I needed another pair, mainly because of the bass (I'll leave it at that). My heart tells me just to get more HD600 and keep my office door closed.
